Friendly Friday Fill-ins!

When you see these two cute cats on this badge you know it’s Friday and you know it is time for Friendly Friday Fill-ins hosted by Annie at McGuffy’s Reader and Ellen at 15andmeowing. If you would like to link up and join the fun just click on the badge… it’s that easy!

This picture really has not one thing to do with Ellen and Annie’s Fill-ins today but I found it and it made me smile AND I can’t do a post without a picture AND, AND, AND, a shooting star is a symbol of good luck. It seemed appropriate today for a lot of reasons. You should always see a shooting star with a friend and I have one in mind… she should know who she is. She wisely told me to focus on the positive yesterday and what better way to do that then to do the Fill-ins!

  1. Before you eat chili, you need to grab the jar of peanut butter so that you can have a little bite of PB with every bite of chili.
  2. After my riding lessons when I was a kid my Mom took me to Steak and Shake for one of their awesome grilled ham sandwiches. I don’t think they are on the menu now. I have the sweetest memories of those lunches with my Mom.
  3. Winter can be a beautiful season, especially to photograph. But winter has not been playing nice and I think I have had enough of it… even though it can be beautiful… focusing on the positive here!
  4. Spring is a time of rioting joyful little flower faces and the hurried feathery efforts of birds to find prime real estate to raise their families. Mr. Tanager comes back to the Tiny Ten around the 15th of April. We may miss him this year, but that’s okay because he knows the Tiny Ten is his summer home.

So, that is it, that’s what I have for this Friday!

Thank you to Annie and Ellen for the HAPPY of the Friday Fill-ins!

Monday Sparks! 18

Annie from McGuffy’s Reader has this to say about her Sparks… “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Friendly Fill-ins Week 46

Good Morning! It is Friday and it is Friendly Fill-in time. You can join Friendly Fill-ins at McGuffy’s Reader and 15andmeowing. Head over to McGuffy’s Reader to link in and see other Fill-ins. Just click on the badge above. Oh, and if you want to do the Fill-ins in the comment section right here that would be more than okay with me.

  1. In the Spring, I look forward to our coneflowers popping up with their happy flower faces.
  2. I would love to have a blogging friends party… even though I would be a nervous wreck meeting everyBODY.
  3. Few know this about me, but I can be very shy and I am a bit quirky.
  4. No one bakes a loaf of cinnamon bread like The Mama… CH’s Mom. You didn’t think I would get through this post without mentioning FOOD? And buttah… for the top of the cinnamon bread… for every bite.

The Little Dogwood That Could

DSC_2645 - Copy (2)

I didn’t think this Dogwood that has been with us since it was tiny was going to make it to this Spring. Well, it did! And just like the Dogwood tree didn’t look like it could make up its indecisive self, I am not able to decide to blog or not to blog. Whether to get a cat or no cat. Stay home and do comments on blogs or careen around the golf course driving CH around 18 holes of golf. Move from our small acreage to a 55 plus community, stay in Missouri or head to New Mexico, Florida, or Arizona. The only thing that I am very sure about is that I will be enjoying a glass of Missouri sweet white wine at four oh clock today. So if you could, hang in there with me until I figure out the blogging thing because it is pretty clear to me that I can’t stop commenting on the blogs that I love. I am pretty sure I will be in comments tomorrow… 😀

Share Your World – 2015 Week #5

DSC_0007 - CopyThe Tiny Ten

Joining Cee for Share Your World. If you would like to see other Share Your World posts or link your own Share Your World just click here. Cee’s questions this week…

Do you prefer shopping or going to a park?
I would prefer going to a park any old day over shopping. I kind of like my own little park… the Tiny Ten. I like to sit under the big Oaks and have a glass of wine, read a book, watch the bluebirds, Suzy Squirrel. Maybe just daydream.

DSC_2614 - CopyIf you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why?
I would be this pair of shoes because these shoes have a good life. I just kick them off when I am on the couch and slip them on when I need to do things around the house. They just laze around. When I am not wearing my bunny slippers, these are my “go to” shoes for wearing around the house all year long. I don’t like being barefoot in the house (or anywhere else really) so easy on, easy off shoes are needed. I just slip on socks for winter and feel “oh so pretty” with my plaid boxers, sweatshirt, and my beach towel wrapped around me almost all the time… 😀 These sandals/shoes so remind me of my sweet eccentric Aunt Margie… her sandals would have been red though. Hello Suds Bunny!

What’s the story behind a time when you got locked out?
I don’t have any interesting stories of being locked out. I have been locked out of cars before and back when it was possible to unlock a car by using a hanger, I have done that. Found it to be a fun challenge. And I have had a policeman come with the fancy unlocking tool once. I can’t ever remember being locked out of the house. I have been locked in before… locked in the high school cafeteria at night after a program. That is a whole other post and I would have to check with my source, my gal pal from way back in grade school and see if that ridiculously funny time with three other gal pals really happened or I just imagined it.

Do you prefer eating foods with nuts or no nuts?
I prefer foods with no nuts in them or on them. Maybe chopped roasted almonds on a sundae. Pecan encrusted Grouper! I DO prefer without, just a couple of exceptions.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I am grateful for getting both of our vehicles waxed last week. And yes I did help. I love to wax cars. Always have… I find it very relaxing. I am looking forward to spending time with The Mama (CH’s Mom) and CH’s brother’s family this weekend. Laughter and FOOD will be the order for the day! And The Mama is getting new furniture!

Thank you Cee!

Good Fences #20

DSC_2270 - Copy
I wanted a gate to lead out to our west field so I casually mentioned to CH that “we” need to build a little gate to lead our view out to the west field which is my second favorite place on our Tiny Ten acres. I told him it would showcase his prized “hibiscuits” too. One day I left to run some errands and I came back to the two panels almost finished. All “we” needed to do was sink it in the ground. I went in the house and probably played on the computer and before I knew it “we” had the gate all up! It was magic how it just appeared!

So “our” little gate that “we” built is making an appearance for Tex’s Good Fences this good Thursday!

Good Fences!

photo (3)
A lovely botanical garden is surrounded by this country wood fence that had been drenched with good rain early morning Sunday. This is just a tiny glimpse of the yard that CH’s brother and his wife make beautiful with a Spring and Summer riot of colorful happy faced flowers. I love to visit them.. well they ARE family but they have the same sense of funny we have and I feel peace there. Just like I am home. The Mama, CH’s Mom, was there too. Brother and Wife are new Grandparents to a sweet boy that is close to 15 months old and we all love him to bits. He and his parents were a big part of the conversation on Sunday… 😀 We missed them!

There was FOOD too.. and wine! CH’s Brother does BBQ that is gourmet and Sunday was pork steaks.. Oh MY! Pork steaks, baked potatoes, salad with Sis-in-law’s balsamic vinaigrette, and sweet corn with buttah. Oh, and CH’s coconut cream pie. My sis-in-law and I are so smart, we married men who can cook!

I am joining Tex for Good Fences today after a long blog break!

Good Fences… 4

Have no idea why the happy flower faces are behind the fence. Perhaps they were concerned the petunias would escape… from the cold. And snow. We make several trips to Trinklein’s in the Spring. It is a fiesta of color and happy flowers. Trinklein’s is a Spring tradition and the trip always includes lunch out… HAPPY! It is a beautiful drive to get there and a thrill to bring home our flower faces that hopefully will be with us through summer and fall. Fingers always crossed that the deer and squirrels don’t love them as much as we do!
