  1. Trust is essential but complicated.
  2. I would protest the lack of chocolate chip cookies at our house.
  3. I have loved horses since I was two when my Granddad set me on top of a swayback old gray mare.
  4. Right now, I am craving a Tim Tam.

And a BIG thank you to Annie and Ellen for the Fill-ins!

Sparks Are Flying This Monday!

“Every time I stand before a beautiful beach, its waves seem to whisper to me: If you choose the simple things and find joy in nature’s simple treasures, life and living need not be so hard.” Psyche Roxas-Mendoza

I find no inclination to procrastinate when it comes to finding joy in nature’s simple treasures. There is a bounty of tiny miracles on Venice’s beach in Florida and CH and I smile at each one. It is as though we are little kids again driving our parents crazy with “Look, Mom!”, “Look at this, Dad!”… the memories are extra sweet there, too. A big thank you to CH’s Mom, known as The Mama to us, and his Dad (who sees us, I am sure) for introducing us to the quaint and endearing personality of Venice. Both our hearts, minds, and emotions find a peace like no other in this city on Florida’s Gulf Coast. And then there’s always those Grouper sandwiches at Turtle’s Restaurant!

Joining Annie at McGuffy’s Reader for the Sparks that start our Monday and week with a bright light to carry us through. I love this concept that Annie brings to us and hope you will join Sparks. Just click on the Sparks badge to see other Sparks that are flying!

Friendly Fill-ins Week 47

It’s a Friendly Fill-in kind of day. Click the badge above to go to the Fill-in prompts and to visit other Fill-in posts! Thank you to McGuffy’s Reader and 15andmeowing for hosting this fun Friendly Fill-in on Fridays.

  1. The first thing I think about in the morning is checking on TinyKittens. TK is a cat and kitten rescue in Fort Langley, BC. They live stream all things kittens and cats 24/7. Currently Evolene and Corsica are on the stream. Two Mom cats that were feral and were trapped and brought in to have their kittens in a safe and caring environment. Great homes will be found for the kittens and Moms after they are spayed and neutered. Both Moms are ready to give birth any day.
  2. The last thing I think about before sleep is why can’t I get to sleep!
  3. I am looking forward to all the Oaks getting themselves dressed for summer. I am also looking forward to Mr. and Mrs. Tanager’s return to the Tiny Ten. It is usually mid April when we hear their beak speak.
  4. I am so pleased that it has rained and rained and rained some more. I wasn’t happy with the scary storms Wednesday night though. Big things were flying around in the night. I think we are now out of drought!

Rubbish Tuesday #16

DSC_2423 - CopyI didn’t have to go too far for today’s Rubbish Tuesday. I walked a few steps to… wait for it, if you haven’t already guessed… I walked out to CH’s workshop. I’m thinking this is at least in some sort of order, which I am sure CH would tell you. He likes it out here. It’s the only place I don’t tell him to pick up, straighten up, throw that junk away. It is his junk, all his. I don’t tell him what to do with it and I don’t go in there unless I need to drive one of our vehicles or grab one of the cutesie yard ornament things.. which it looks like the little yard things never made it out of the workshop this summer. I think we have been too busy with day trips.

DSC_2421 - CopySo Roan I might be wrong but I think this kind of qualifies as interesting junk. I find it interesting. Some stuff… I am totally clueless as to what it is.. what it’s for..  BUT this “rubbish” is CH’s treasure. It’s his rubbish and that kind of makes it our rubbish by marriage and I do find some of it interesting and I must say I have enjoyed scouting out some of the “stuff” in the pictures. I love the little turtle on the second shelf… he seems a bit overwhelmed by all the “stuff” that surrounds him. Maybe I should grab his little turtle self and give him a happy place in one of the flowers beds. It’s pretty dusty in there and it cracks me up that CH took the time to clean those farm boots up… they actually shine. Guess he wanted “them boots” to be all clean for the next trip down to clean up all the growth around the lagoon!

Good Fences #20

DSC_2270 - Copy
I wanted a gate to lead out to our west field so I casually mentioned to CH that “we” need to build a little gate to lead our view out to the west field which is my second favorite place on our Tiny Ten acres. I told him it would showcase his prized “hibiscuits” too. One day I left to run some errands and I came back to the two panels almost finished. All “we” needed to do was sink it in the ground. I went in the house and probably played on the computer and before I knew it “we” had the gate all up! It was magic how it just appeared!

So “our” little gate that “we” built is making an appearance for Tex’s Good Fences this good Thursday!

Something Floofy Our Way Comes!

DSC_2338 - Copy
Floofy as a description is not limited to cats I am thinking with all the feather floof this Nuthatch has going on. It was a bit breezy on Sunday and he had the wind blowing out of the South right up his floofy derriére. He and his bird herd join us under the Oaks at 4 oh clock for wine time. He isn’t shy about letting CH know the amber dish is without sunflower hearts. He chats to CH on his way to and from the workshop to fill up the little dish. This one follows CH from tree to tree, little bird feet making tiny bird step noises on the bark as he yakyak yak-YAKs until CH comes out with the full dish and sets it in the holder.

I call the Nuthatches “The Mimes” because when their feathers aren’t all floofy but rather sleek and flat to their bird bodies they remind me of mimes. Nothing silent about them at all though. They have so much to say! We know.. they say it all during wine time.

The title of this post… I think I may have picked up the phrase from Tinykittens, a foster home for rescue cats and kittens with Foster Mom Kitten Whisperer Shelly Roche in Fort Langley, BC. You can watch the kittens live 24/7 at http://tinykittens.com/live. Tinykittens Facebook page.. http://facebook.com/tinykittens How did I ever go from Nuthatches to kittens? Oh my! To watch The Mimes at The Tiny Ten.. you have to come visit!

*I purchased a new lens, it’s smarter than me. For now.. 🙂

Random Five Friday

DSC_0245 - Copy

Can’t help but wonder how this little guy is doing. CH found him toodling along on his own March of 2012. Kept an eye on him and it became clear he was too little to be out of the nest and no adult squirrel was around to take care of him. As it started to get dark there were too many dangers for a little squirrel. I am hoping little Squee is thriving out in his own bit of country with a little girl squirrel and a family.

My Nook died. Not really, but that is the excuse I am making for the Kindle Paperwhite making its way toward me. I am excited. Amazon has such a better selection of books to choose from than Barnes and Noble. AND I have Sharechair blog to help me get the most out of my Kindle.. 🙂

CH is in Florida with The Mama. The house is too quiet. I love my alone time but I might, I say might have overrated its importance. A little goes a long way. But the house is clean.. 😀 That might be overrated too. And I miss his cooking!

The Kinda Big City of Jefferson City has come up in the world and they now have a Chick-fil-A. Another reason to be all giddy but it seems I am not the only one that is giddy over chicken because there are more peeps than I ever thought possible thinking they want some Chick-fil-A too and they are in my way to getting an 8-count box of chicken nuggets. I’m not sure but it may be that I eat the chicken nuggets just so I can dip them in the Honey Mustard sauce.

I find it totally baffling when people pull out in front of me and creep along when there is not one single car behind me for miles. Couldn’t they have waited to take their mile of deserted road? This last random fact a result of frustration over trying to get an 8-count of Chick-fil-A nuggets. Hmm, I may have to settle for a… CHEESEBURGER! That would be just awful.. 😀

Joining Nancy from a Rural Journal once again for her Random Five Friday!
