Sparks Are Flying This Monday!

“Every time I stand before a beautiful beach, its waves seem to whisper to me: If you choose the simple things and find joy in nature’s simple treasures, life and living need not be so hard.” Psyche Roxas-Mendoza

I find no inclination to procrastinate when it comes to finding joy in nature’s simple treasures. There is a bounty of tiny miracles on Venice’s beach in Florida and CH and I smile at each one. It is as though we are little kids again driving our parents crazy with “Look, Mom!”, “Look at this, Dad!”… the memories are extra sweet there, too. A big thank you to CH’s Mom, known as The Mama to us, and his Dad (who sees us, I am sure) for introducing us to the quaint and endearing personality of Venice. Both our hearts, minds, and emotions find a peace like no other in this city on Florida’s Gulf Coast. And then there’s always those Grouper sandwiches at Turtle’s Restaurant!

Joining Annie at McGuffy’s Reader for the Sparks that start our Monday and week with a bright light to carry us through. I love this concept that Annie brings to us and hope you will join Sparks. Just click on the Sparks badge to see other Sparks that are flying!

Friendly Fill-ins ~ Week 90

It’s Friday… time for Friendly Fill-ins hosted by Annie at McGuffy’s Reader and Ellen at 15andmeowing. Click the badge above to visit other Fill-in posts… go on and click, you will be glad you did. It’s fun to read the other Fill-ins… it will make you smile.

  1. The flu shot most likely worked for me this year, thankfully. I would have missed this beautiful evening.
  2. I think everyone should take time and do something that makes them especially happy daily.
  3. I (almost always) say my rosary at night, because it connects me to my Mom. The nuns would be so proud. They thought I was a lost cause.
  4. I almost (never) get stuff done on time because I am a PROcrastinator. It gives me a cranky that I have PROcrastination but it’s been with me a long time. So, I go with it.

Welcome to WordPress, Annie!

Joining Annie’s Sparks at her blog McGuffy’s Reader. She asks that we spread the light of positivity. We can use a quote, poem, thought, or verse. I don’t think she would object to a picture. Read more about her Sparks by clicking on her badge above.

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like “What about lunch?” ~ A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

I am a lover of food. I find great positive energy in sitting down to good food with a good friend. Friends and food make my heart lighter and there are days that friends and food transform a not so good day into one of the very best!

Friendly Fill-ins Week 47

It’s a Friendly Fill-in kind of day. Click the badge above to go to the Fill-in prompts and to visit other Fill-in posts! Thank you to McGuffy’s Reader and 15andmeowing for hosting this fun Friendly Fill-in on Fridays.

  1. The first thing I think about in the morning is checking on TinyKittens. TK is a cat and kitten rescue in Fort Langley, BC. They live stream all things kittens and cats 24/7. Currently Evolene and Corsica are on the stream. Two Mom cats that were feral and were trapped and brought in to have their kittens in a safe and caring environment. Great homes will be found for the kittens and Moms after they are spayed and neutered. Both Moms are ready to give birth any day.
  2. The last thing I think about before sleep is why can’t I get to sleep!
  3. I am looking forward to all the Oaks getting themselves dressed for summer. I am also looking forward to Mr. and Mrs. Tanager’s return to the Tiny Ten. It is usually mid April when we hear their beak speak.
  4. I am so pleased that it has rained and rained and rained some more. I wasn’t happy with the scary storms Wednesday night though. Big things were flying around in the night. I think we are now out of drought!

Friendly Fill-ins Week 46

Good Morning! It is Friday and it is Friendly Fill-in time. You can join Friendly Fill-ins at McGuffy’s Reader and 15andmeowing. Head over to McGuffy’s Reader to link in and see other Fill-ins. Just click on the badge above. Oh, and if you want to do the Fill-ins in the comment section right here that would be more than okay with me.

  1. In the Spring, I look forward to our coneflowers popping up with their happy flower faces.
  2. I would love to have a blogging friends party… even though I would be a nervous wreck meeting everyBODY.
  3. Few know this about me, but I can be very shy and I am a bit quirky.
  4. No one bakes a loaf of cinnamon bread like The Mama… CH’s Mom. You didn’t think I would get through this post without mentioning FOOD? And buttah… for the top of the cinnamon bread… for every bite.

Friendly Fill-ins ~ Week #44

It is Friday Friendly Fill-in time… where did this week go? You can find the Fill-ins at McGuffy’s Reader and 15andmeowing on Thursday. That gives you some time to think about your Fill-ins instead of doing them at the last minute like I am doing this morning… think storms and no internet yesterday. Just click on the badge above to take you to other blogs that have participated!

  1. I hope Gilmore Girls gets renewed for another season. Yep, I know Gilmore Girls is done and finished. But I just got hooked on this show. Where was I back in 2000 when this show started? Never heard of it until last month when I found it on TV in the wee hours of the morning when I couldn’t sleep.
  2. My first crush was tall, dark, and handsome… almost 16 hands tall, dark bay, and went by the name of Sugarfoot. I was one of those lucky young horse loving girls that found a bow on the stall door and my first horse inside on Christmas morning!
  3. Chopping onions usually makes me cry. Unless I have my contacts on, and then it doesn’t affect me at all. Had this discussion last week. Having contacts on while chopping onions held back the tears for most people.
  4. If I were a super-hero, I would be a befuddled one. I can’t even begin to imagine myself as a super-hero. But I would love to have super-hero powers and see that all kitties were never intentionally hurt by humans. All kitties were safe and in homes where they were loved and respected until the very end… held until their last breath. This hope/wish is not limited to felines.

Friendly Fill-ins! Week 43

We all have the fun challenge of filling in four Friendly Fill-ins with thoughts/views that are unique to each of us today. You can find the Fill-ins for this 43rd week at McGuffy’s Reader and 15andmeowing. Click on the badge right up top there… yeah, that’s the one with the two cute kitty fuzz faces. Just click on it and you can link up your Friendly Fill-in post and read other Fill-in posts… what’s not to love about that? Ready? Go…

  1. My favorite herb or spice is cardamom… hmmm, maybe rosemary. No, no, no… cardamom because it is one of the flavors that makes Nisu so irresistibly delicious… Nisu is a sweet bread. I have a dear friend that is Finnish and she makes Nisu and if you haven’t ever had Nisu that needs to be changed! And be sure to buy plenty of buttah!
  2. An herb/spice I dislike is ginger.
  3. Lately, I have been working on getting motivated to pick up my Nikon picture taker. And after picking it up, clicking some pictures. I don’t know where my desire to click happy went.
  4. This Winter was not like “The Little Engine That Could” but more like the winter that couldn’t. No problem with that for me because I still had enough cold days with a teeny flurry of snow, a lovely Thanksgiving and Christmas,  plenty of time to cocoon, and managed to eat all the comfort FOOD that comes with the winter season. Did I mention Nisu? Homemade noodles at Thanksgiving, CH’s mush, potato cakes, crock-pot roast with mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans…okay I am going to stop!

Nisu! Where’s the buttah?

Friendly Fill-ins!

It’s Friday and that means Friendly Fill-in time. You can find the Fill-ins at McGuffy’s Reader and 15andmeowing. Click on the badge above to link up and/or see other Fill-ins!

Here are my “filled in” Fill-ins!

  1. I wish wooden barns would come back in style.
  2. I always have my “cheaters” and chapstick in my purse (or wallet for men).
  3. I think that I find true peace near water… the ocean, lakes, farm ponds, rivers, streams, fountains, etc.
  4. Someone that answers a text or phone call and proceeds  to carry on a conversation while I am sitting there right in front of them is a pet peeve of mine. You have me right there to talk to. I am there for you… if it isn’t an emergency tell the other person you will get back to them.
