The Mama ♥

The Mama was mentioned quite often on this blog. She was a joyful presence in real life, filled with optimism and a sense of funny that tickled us all. Pictures of family have not been a part of my blog out of respect for their privacy but I am making this one exception.

The Mama, known also as GiGi and/or Gram, loved “her boys” and family more than anything in the world… except maybe her husband, Charley. The Mama left her three boys and the boy’s wives, her nieces, nephews, her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the remaining family that she was devoted to on February 14th, 2018 to be with her husband, Charley, on Valentine’s Day. She left peacefully in her sleep. Our hearts are broken but we are comforted by the thought that she and Charley are together… we know with all our hearts that they are both watching over us lovingly and protecting us.

  1. Oh I am sure she is keeping a close eye on her family and isn’t that just a nice, comfy and warm thought. I always loved hearing about your visits with her…..and all those delicious things she’d make to eat for your family get-togethers. Seeing her photo – obviously having a wonderful time – makes me feel like I knew her……or WISH that I had! Sorry for your loss but happy for Heaven’s gain of another tender-hearted and beautiful lady.

    Hugs, Pam

  2. Pix what a beautiful picture of The Mama….I know for sure she would have been a fast friend whom I would have enjoyed great conversations. What a beautiful quote.

We are so very sorry for the lost of your family’s matriarch. IN the same breath we rejoice that she is with her beloved Charley.

    1. Good Morning, Jill! I could have written so many more words about her. She was funny, joyful, determined, loving, kind, considerate, and loved every minute of life. She lived for her family. Our family thanks you for your prayers from the bottom of our hearts.

  3. Deepest sympathy to you and your family, Pix. We lost “Motor Mum” on February 7. It’s hard to say good-bye, but our belief that they’re reunited with their true love helps ease the pain just a little.

    1. Thank you, Dianna. My sympathy, thoughts, and prayers to you and your husband in the loss of Motor Mum. I believe you are so right that there is true comfort in the fact that two people that loved each other for almost all of their lives are finally united again forever. Especially so when they are struggling with pain.

  4. Sad to read this Pix. You have always written about her very warmly, so I know she was someone you loved dearly.
I’m glad her death was peaceful, and that she will have known she was loved. Not much comfort to you now, but as the pain of loss eases it may be consoling. Hugs.

    1. I did love her dearly and the rest of the family loved her so much. She was a kind, considerate, joyful person that spread her happiness all around. She was wise too and knew how to live every minute of her life with happiness and joy. Her passing in peace is a great comfort to us. She was finished with Doctors and just wanted to live her days her way. Thank you for your words, they mean so much, Isobel.

    1. Thank you so much Mary Lou. She was a remarkable person, strong and determined. Thank you so much for the prayers, they mean so much to me and the family. We now try and find a new normal without her. We have some great memories and we have pictures… thank the heavens for pictures. Jerry has her voice on videos and from her phone calls where she left voicemails. I have forgotten what Mom’s voice sounds like. We spent the day before she passed away with her and we had a day filled with laughter and a bit of shopping, which she loved to do. She wanted pizza and key lime pie and that is what we had… 🙂
