Random 5 Friday

DSC_2616 - CopyWe have a new visitor to The Tiny Ten! He has been here about two weeks. I have not been able to get a decent picture of him… this is as good as I could do. He is camera shy. He has the sweetest little bird speak, I love hearing him talk, talk, talk in the morning… drink-your-tea! He is right outside our family room window in the bush which he has claimed as his own. He has a tiny fierce and protects his rights to that bush.

I am totally amazed by a modification to my clothing choice in my life. I have fallen out of love with jeans… people who know me know I love my jeans. My new fascination with comfortable clothing that makes me HAPPY is clothing from ATHLETA. I can’t stay away from their online site. It is the long and capri bottoms, the Asana tees, and the hoodies that make me excited about getting dressed in the morning again and has me doing my heart healthy walks around The Tiny Ten.

I can’t get anything done because I am watching Shelly’s Tinykittens. Her new fosters are The Sesame Street Kittens and she has a Livestream 24/7 cam. Five little kittens thrown in a trash can. Found by Handyman Joel when he heard little mews. My anger can’t be contained. Now they have a bright and happy future ahead of them with the promise of homes where they will be loved and respected. As I get ready to hit publish the kittens have taken down the cam! Have to wait till Shelly wakes up and gets cam back in position. These kittens are little scamps and love taking down the camera.

DSC_2571 - CopyI might be missing Florida.

I haven’t had wine for over a week. Wine Time today on The Porch… four ohhhh clock! I think bruschetta will be making an appearance. Hot diggity!

I am joining Nancy at A Rural Journal for Random 5 Friday. Welcome back Nancy and thank you for R5F!

  1. Oh I love the Eastern Towhee, Pix! They’re frequent visitors at our feeders. They’re such chunky little nuggets. πŸ™‚
Yes, ATHLETA! They have great stuff that makes working out a pleasure. Enjoy your wine time!

    1. Good Morning Jill! So nice to see you.. πŸ™‚ I can’t believe it took me this long to find Athleta! I am glad you have Towhees! Chunky little nuggets… Love it! Enjoy your weekend Jill and yes, I will enjoy wine time… thank you!

  2. I can’t believe that people throw pets in a trash can… I wonder if such people still can see their face every morning in the mirror without screaming… I visited the athena site, I love the white longsleeve shirt, but currently I can’t shop for summer clothes with my frozen hands, my heart says yes, but my whole body screams NOOOOO, buy warm sweaters instead… :o)

  3. I’m still a jeans wearer — mostly because they stand up well to the rigors of farm life (mud, dog hair, goose-poo, etc…) That little Towhee is adorable! πŸ™‚ Nancy

  4. Oh what a beauty your new little bird friend is β™₯ I got out my BIRD book to red more about him and will be looking more closely at the ground feeders on my land to see if I can spot one. πŸ™‚ Those kittens are adorable and I’m like to choke the person who left them in the trash can. I get very upset over abuse of any kind . They will be easy to find homes for as they are so darn cute. White cats are a favorite of mine.
I also had to look up the clothing line you were talking about . They do look comfy …this winter I have spent a great deal of time in sweats layered over leggings. I refuse to turn the heat above 67Β° so there is a chill in the house until I light the fireplace in the evening. Florida does sound nice right now but hey we have great SUNSHINE in Missouri today and warm weather on the way β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯β™₯

    1. Carol I can’t imagine that you would not have some Towhees where you are. Hope you find one or two.. πŸ™‚ I would like to choke the person who put them in the trash can too, or stuff the person in a trash can and let them stew in their own urine with no water or food! Yes the weather is sunny today and it is wonderful… sixties next week! Enjoy your weekend Carol! Hugs!

  5. Oh, the Towhee is fabulous! I had one drop by last spring for a day. I keep looking out the window to see if one comes by this year. I wear jeans to go out, but indoors it’s sweats and leggings! Enjoy your wine, I’ll be sitting in front of the cosy fire later this evening with a glass.

  7. Well, isn’t he a cutie pie!!! Love your updates dear Pix. Always worth waiting for. Less is better for the most part don’t you think? Phew, wine time…just in time! Still in lined pants. Will check that site out when the weather thaws. Get catalogs from them I believe. Happy Friday!!

  8. Big fan of Athleta here too, Pix. I discovered the brand a few years ago when a friend was wearing their swimsuit. So cute! Have you ever tried “Lucy” brand? Also very nice. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a towhee here, but now that I know what one looks like, I’ll keep out a sharper eye. And seriously, when does it ever end with the cruelty to animals. I would like to launch a posse…..

  9. Hmm……am I missing out on something with this Athleta thing? I’m a major jeans girl – it would take a LOT for me to change but I’ll take a peekie……we’re never too old to learn something eh? Love the bird photo – AND love hearing that you are having wine at 4PM – guess what – same here! Enjoy! I’ll toast to you and you can toast to me and we’ll pretend we’re with each other toasting. Thanks too for reminding me about the kittens – I haven’t see this latest batch – bless their hearts and Shelly’s…..found in a trash can…..that’s beyond awful.

Hugs, and **clink** of wine glass, Pam

Hugs and my **clink** is coming your way in 7 minutes!

  10. You new little Towhee friend is quite a guy! Adorable and beautiful. Athleta … if I get too comfortable I won’t want to go out! πŸ˜‰ I get on my high horse when I hear about poor kitties or puppies who have been thrown out … adult animals too. Humans can be so harsh. Enjoy the wine. Stay warm and Happy Friday!

  11. What a sweet bird visitor. – Must check out the clothes. I was excited today to find new jeans though that were “granny” jeans and I actually fit in them. Kittens make me want more cats and with 6 already I’d best not linger long watching them.

  12. Hi Pix! Your little towhee is a cutie. I haven’t seen one around here, but I’ll keep an eye out. Maybe one will venture into my yard! I wish my starlings would take a hike. Pesky critters.
I’ve been meaning to respond to your comment about Gates BBQ. My son called the morning after it happened and let us know. I loved that place and I hope they build back .
I’m so happy the kittens were found and rescued. I’d like to get my hands on those bums who dumped them in the trash. It makes me sick to think of all the little furbabies that are just discarded so easily like that. Don’t know how anyone with a heart can do it.
Hope you’re enjoying your wine time about now! Have a happy weekend!

  13. Love the towhee- never seen one myself. My jeans have been pushed to the back of the closet this winter, and I am not sure I will take them out for spring..I love yoga and capri pants so much! I’ll have to investigate this athleta site..always on the lookout for comfy clothes. Have a great weekend!

  14. I love seeing new birds. Thanks for the link. Athleta has some stylish clothes. Will have to look around there. I lost another pound! I’m starting to like that scale, after all. πŸ™‚

It’s so upsetting that some people can just toss baby animals away like rubbish. It’s so cruel.

  16. Jeans…jeans…jeans it is for me. Trouser jeans to dress up, slim fit for running around, straight legged to change things up a bit. My brand “not your daughters jeans” OR nydj. I will take a look at the ATHLETA site though, and Lucy and the other Lululemon.
Grandson would love to volunteer at an animal shelter and I would gladly support him by going with him. But when I called, they said NOPE to younger than 16 year olds even accompanied by me. I’ll keep looking for an opportunity. So glad you are locating homes that respect those kitties.
Rather than wine it was budlight with lime last night. Too cold for outside but it certainly was a nice way to kick off our spring break.

    1. I have not given up on my jeans, wore them yesterday to wash our vehicles. I must check out nydj! We volunteer at our local animal shelter.. help socialize cats and kittens and get them out of their small cat condos to play in the cat room. Our shelter lets high school kids come from the local high school but they are chaperoned. I wonder if there are legalities involved with your shelter. I think your shelter is missing out big time not letting you and your Grandson volunteer. Bud Light with lime sounds awesome! Enjoy your Spring break!!!

Oh! I also can’t believe that people throw pets in a trash can… so sad…
    Love the photo of Florida!

  21. Dear Pix–

Just stopped over to get a peek at your place. Oh, it’s way too happy for me:
    -A beautiful ten acres in Missouri, a state I loved as a child;
    -A happy long-term marriage.
-A kitten-cam that had me frozen, hypnotized for at least five minutes by an overdose of adorability–and I Do Not Like Cats!
-The marvelous towhee photo, and link to its have-some-tea song
-Learning you like the same clothing as I (though I can little afford it)
The only negative that compensated, and indeed, almost overrode all the rest, was your puzzling affection for that abysmally repulsive state to Georgia’s south. (shudder)

I am now as green as your lovely ten acres with envy over your lovely life, and blog (with that exception already noted), and shall now return to my normal home of bitter whining.

    1. Oh My! You make me laugh.. I love to laugh. But Outlier Babe I have me some bitter whining and cranky that is not to be believed. I just don’t do it on my blog. I have gal pals from school that I still whine with and just ask my husband about the cranky and whining. I am not an easy person to live with. I am a crazy PROcrastinating, anxiety filled and constantly fighting depression person that is working on living in happiness now because I have worried away the previous years. Oooo I have some bad in me… hope that doesn’t turn you away! All is not happy but hey I am driving this bus πŸ˜€ Dying, dying over your comment about Florida-dah-dee! I would love to be in New Mexico but there is no ocean and CH loves Florida. I am tickled beyond words that you liked the kitten-cam.. πŸ™‚ Please post again soon… well, no hurry I guess.. you have lots for me to read. Nice to meet you!

      1. I am glad for you that you are turning to the light now after all those years in the dark. My friend Millie (let me see–yes, I think that’s the name I used for her on the blog–she would never want her real name used) decided at age 50 that worry and regret were both wastes of time, and never did either again. THAT is wisdom. Wisdom I have not yet achieved, but I’m closer. Anger, however…

Thank you for the compliment of wanting me to post soon! You may not get what you’re expecting, though: You’re joining the blog when I’m on a run of serious posts–posts about my teaching years. I am trying to alternate those with lighter posts–like this one.

        1. Anger and anxiety… beating them down every ding dang day! I am an inconsistent blogger and I would much rather read other blogs and comment than get a post up of my own. I might have mentioned how befuddled I am about blogging.. πŸ˜€ Millie is a better woman than I could ever be. I am going to be reading your blog like a book this afternoon and evening!

          1. Millie practically has the little birdies and woodland creatures flock round her wherever she goes like Cinderella, she is so saintly. Lucky for her she is also highly witty and amusing, or I would have popped her one in her too-perfect kisser long ago.

            Anger issues? Moi?

              1. You could not frighten me away. You will eventually be reading about all of mine. I will let it ALL hang out, and it is ugly, ugly at times. Too bad. It’s not only a blog, it’s my diary and memoir. Scary…

                1. I am ready. I have some idea because I have read some of your tags and titles. I had a more than bumpy childhood. But don’t like to go there on the blog. My parents should not have had children. There was only me. I am not a Mom because I knew I would not be a good Mother. I know scary. I hate that you experienced ugly. NoBODY should have to experience ugly.
