Share Your World – 2015 Week #4

IMG_0257
It’s time to join Cee at Share Your World. This big old grouper sandwich is from Turtles on Little Sarasota Bay, Siesta Key, Florida and this sandwich is what I was looking forward to for LUNCH the next week in my last SYW post but I couldn’t say where then! So it is a little part of my answer in Cee’s bonus questions at the end of the post. Have I befuddle-muddled you yet? On to Cee’s questions for this week. Join Cee’s Share Your World with a post of your own and link back to her or if you feel all up and HAPPY, play in the comments. I would love seeing your answers.

Where did you live at age five? Is it the same place or town you live now?
I lived in a small town just south of St. Louis, Missouri. It is not the same place I live now.

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met. Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?
Yes… probably. As long as I don’t have to wear a fru fru dress.

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?
I grew up in a small town and I mean teeny! Yes I did like it… I loved growing up there. I had a blast and had some wonderful friends. Those were the days when my gal pals and I could walk home from school and stop at the dime store lunch counter and order a big old plate of crinkle cut french fries with a blob of ketchup for dipping the fries and a fountain Coke with a squirt of cherry syrup. And because that wasn’t enough food fun we would order a scoop of chocolate ice cream with gooey marshmallow on top in a chilly cold metal serving dish. AND we didn’t give a hoot about the calories! Dang, it is always about FOOD for me.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I don’t remember thinking about that. All I wanted to do was ride horses.  For a brief time in grade school I wanted to be a nun… dying here, dying. You went to Catholic school back in the old days, they worked very hard at  trying to recruit you to join the sisterhood of nuns. I still didn’t know what I wanted to be in college and now at 63 I just want to be happy and healthy.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? I am grateful for the trip to Venice, Florida and the grouper sandwich for lunch. I am looking forward to ordering a pair of BOOTS in the week coming up… I see a BOOT post in my future!

Oh this was fun to read………that sandwich looks even better now than when I first saw it (tee hee)……..so glad you had a nice little summer break considering how icky the winter is becoming for some…….we’ve had another bit of snow overnight but no biggie compared to up north. Can’t wait to see those new boots!

  2. I can see you walking home from school with your friends. I miss this good old days too… where we had french fries with the Mount Mayonaise on top what landed somewhere but not on our hips… To ride horses is a wonderful idea and I once thought I can do that for the rest of my life… but I’ve got some doubts as I saw the result of my first horse show :o)

    1. Fries and mayonaise? Is this something I am missing? I thought I would be able to ride the rest of my life too but the body wore out.. 😀 I didn’t do too well at first either but things improved. I didn’t set any records but I loved riding and just all things horse. Mayonaise?

    1. Good Morning Jill! It was delicious.. we went back for dinner later in the week. Nancy is fun to hang with and I have to keep my brain firing to keep up with her. I learn so many things when we talk. Her husband is a very nice guy and he and CH get along very well and it is hard to find friendships where everybody gets along and has a nice time.

    1. I KNOW!!!! It does not get much more ridiculous than the thought of me as a nun. They would have never let me in! Thanks for the good words about the header. I can’t remember where you are Gemma… you not in the path of the monster storm?

But, all I could say is, I wish I could be paid that much money for doing my job half-a__ __!
Sorry. I suppose it’s not an exact science, but DANG! Really?

        1. Ha Ha!!!! We were all better off when we didn’t have them telling us every second what was going to fall out of the sky and whether the sun was going to hide for the day or we were going to have blustery Pooh like winds. We all just took what and when whatever came.

  5. I am befuddled a bit, but I think that generally that is my state…I am getting the bike out and ridding down to the waterfront that is going to end with fish and fries. What a great nudge to do something that is at least partially healthy.

  6. totally laughing at the emphasis on FOOD! 🙂 and i’m with you on the fru fru dress! and i was gonna be a nun, too, until i hit 7th grade in public school, that is. 🙂 (grades 1-6 were in catholic school, i had 4 aunts that were nuns – 3 on dad’s side and 1 on mom’s – i was the youngest of 8 kids and their last hope for sending one into religious service…)

  7. Hi Sister Mary Pix!!! I wanted to be a nun too. It happened to me after watching “The Sound of Music.” I remember after-school stop-offs at the MInnesota diner where I would get a real cherry coke and sometimes a California burger….that had lettuce and mayo and tomato. Ahhh, the good life. Bless you, my child!!

    1. COL Barbara… COL! I like the sound of that… Sister Mary Pix! A California burger, now you’re talking. That is how I order my burger at Five Guys but I add cheese. Bless YOU Sister Mary Barbara! Have you ever watched the movie The Trouble with Angels?

      1. That’s it, Pix!!! That’s the other movie I was struggling so to remember when I was writing this comment. Rosalind Russell as the Mother Superior and Hayley Mills, right? Oh, now, that’s who I wanted to be when I was little. My first celebrity crush was that Hayley Mills!

  8. i’ve never had grouper, but it looks like it’s very yummy with those homemade fries…

i’m with you on the no fru-fru dress.

fries with mayo is how they frequently have them in Germany. although i must admit i prefer them with ketchup. they have these little kiosks where they sell homestyle fries and/or curry sausage, which is sausage with curry powder and some special tomatoe-y kind of a sauce that’s not ketchup. and it’s not spicy hot, just flavourful. not for vegetarians, the curry sausage, but if you aren’t, they are actually quite tasty.

and i must admit i was a bit curious about what you were looking forward to, and it sounds like an awesome time was had by all!

    1. Chris I am not a vegetarian and I would enjoy the curry sausages.. no doubt about that. I don’t think I am going to make it to Germany anytime soon. Fries with mayo… I am going to give it a try but I am thinking the fries are fattening enough not to mention artery clogging! I like ketchup for sure!

  9. LOL, Food, the universal language. Love a good grouper sandwich, or better yet, fish taco! Enjoyed the glimpse into your life. I remember when I told my grandmother I wanted to be a nun (u and I are the same age). Her reply was “over my dead body!” She had the nuns all figured out 😀😀😀
