Weekly Photo Challenge ~ Express Yourself

Well there are no deep thoughts here for the Express Yourself Photo Challenge. Only the admission that I love shoes… that shoe love comes honest to me from my Mom. I have loved shoes since I was a teeny young thing and picked out my first pair of red Keds. People that have been following me for a bit know all about my love of shoes. Boots are my true love and yeah, come on… I know you peeps out there that get that boot obsession.

No doubt about it, I express myself with my choice of shoes. My only defense to that is I do express myself in other ways more important but I have chosen these too cute bunny slippers for this challenge. I went to Catholic grade school and high school in a navy blue skirt, white shirt, and navy blue blazer every ding dang day for 12 years. Navy blue knee socks and my shoes were my only personal expression of me… of Pix. The nuns would tell you I expressed myself quite well with a quirky and mischievous personality. My shoe love shows up on most of my avatars.

I zeroed in on these bunny slippers a couple of years ago and died and sighed. CH was with me and he just gave me the “one eyebrow raised I know you so well” look. And then surprisingly and happily they just showed up a few days later on my birthday. Lucky is what I was that birthday… CH knew all about my shoe lovin’ expressing myself me!

  1. I couldn’t agree more. Shoes are like soul-medecine in a box and they can make a day bright and sunny even when the sky shows me 50 shades of grey (or the middle finger lol). I’ve got this obsession from my mom too, she had two younger brothers so she only got “unisex” shoes what her brothers could wear later and she swore to buy all shoes she wants when she makes her own money…. therefore I practically grew up in shoe stores :o)

  2. Me too. I have more shoes than I have time to wear but I didn’t inherit it from my (preferably barefoot) Mom. I never let her pick out my shoes when I was a kid and my colored sneaker collection in high school was the envy of my girl-circle.

    1. I wore white sneaks… Sperry Top-Siders and now I love my Chucks! I would like to live in sandals, maybe that day will come. I also loved Bass Weejuns and wore them almost daily to school. I just bought a pair a couple of months ago and I am in love all over again. But BOOTS are the best!

  3. I bet I’d be more interested in shoes if I’d had to wear a uniform in school. I rarely pay attention to what people have on their feet . . . but those bunny slippers would make me smile.

    CH is a keeper!

  4. Great minds think alike! I featured shoes as personality indicator myself this week. As for me, I have so many pair it’s embarrasing, but only because I refuse to throw them away! They’re like old friends to me ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I loved and wore Capezios in high school. Since I did high school in FL , color was important. That was probably my shoe period. Still I always pass by the shoe department of any department store to see what’s new. Since I’m so hard to fit, if it fits I buy it with rare hesitation. I agree, the ones that last really are like old friends.

  6. Love the “bunnies”…….I wore mine out and haven’t replaced them but now wear LLBean fleece lined moccasins (almost as good as!) every day……..I have really achey-breakie arthritic feet from all those years of high heels and dang those mocs are comfy. I love shoes and it’s a real challenge finding ones that don’t hurt. Fortunately shoe manufacturers have tried to do something about that and there are better “walkers” now than there used to be. My PREFERENCE would be bunnies though!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi ya Pam! I have seen your fleece lined moccasins while you are sitting in your chair with a Sammy Cat on your lap. I used to have them but now I have few different comfy shoes I wear around the house. My favorites are a pair of slide the feeties in sandals and I wear socks with them in the winter. Pretty I am with white socks, sandals , and CH’s boxers and a sweatshirt with a beach towel wrapped around me.. ๐Ÿ˜€ Owieeeee, I didn’t know you had achey-breakie feet.

WE HELPED OUR DAUGHTER MOVE INTO HER FIRST APARTMENT. AT THE TIME WE HAD A TAURUS STATION WAGON. HER SHOE COLLECTION FILLED UP THE ENTIRE CARGO AREA IN THE STATION WAGON AND ONE LARGE CARDBOARD APPLIANCE BOX. I THINK HER DAD COUNTED (YES HE REALLY DID) CLOSE TO 70 BOXES JUST IN THE STATION WAGON. HE TOLD HER NEXT TIME SHE MOVED SHE EITHER NEEDED TO HAVE LESS SHOES OR A HUSBAND. LOL

    1. Hi Barb! They are comfortable and have very animated bouncy ears as I walk around.. ๐Ÿ˜€ I don’t buy shoes that aren’t comfortable. I have never been a high heel gal. I am not much of a dress up person. I don’t even own a dress!

    1. Hello hello ~d!!!!!!! I hoped I’d see you with the boot comment! You have the coolest boots! WordPress is being strange for quite a few people. After we got back home and I got on my trusty laptop and went in to do a new post and I was all befuddled. What happen to the notification format? At first I really hated it but now I am thinking it is pretty cool, very efficient. The WP gremlins are busy!

  9. oh Pix, you made me grin! love this!

and you also took me on a journey down memory lane. the shoes i wore. heels to kill for, wedgies and platform shoes. am i dating myself? anyhow, i had red patent leather shoes once! they were actually a gift from my mom when she went away on a trip. having almost the same shoe size, she got them as a perfect fit. i just loved those shoes.

i quite like shoes, although nowadays my personal preference is for anything goes as long as it’s comfortable. and i also have this thing for socks – the wilder the better. it seems that no matter what the style, they all go well with jeans, so why not?

how brilliant is it that we have feet! thanks for this enjoyable post. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Chris! I am happy I made you grin! I am glad to hear from you. I haven’t seen any posts and thought maybe you were on vacation! Nice gift from your Mom. I never did high heels, I was more of a tomboy kind of shoe wearer… tennies, loafers, boots. Comfy has always been my choice. I like socks too and my Mom-in-law shares that with me. Thanks for the visit Chris!

      1. hey Pix – no vacation, just busy with packing up stuff for some reno work, and then moving things back again. still not quite done but the worst of it is behind me. i am sure Timmy will have something to say about that in his next guest post. ๐Ÿ™‚ no vacation scheduled until later in the year but life is good, and no complaints from here! today it is almost sunny (emphasis on almost) and it is 12 ยบC (53.6 ยบF). my kind of winter weather!

        1. Hi Chris! Well reno work is no vacation.. ๐Ÿ˜€ I am sure Timmy does have some thoughts about his routine being a bit disrupted. Glad all is well and you have some sun and nice temps. I will take temps in the 50’s any old day. No sun here today, we had a cold drizzly day, but it made for good blog reading!

  10. Oh!! Love the bunnies!! You’ve just made me reminisce about Church of England girls school I went to and the uniform was grey, grey and grey!! Even the knickers were grey! When I had the chance I went out to buy my first pair of shoes (the ones I wanted!) with my best friend and we both chose the same pair – black clodhoppers!! The only difference form school shoes was the fact they had a heel!! So cool! LOL

I think you should do a regular shoe post!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Carolyn those school uniforms are something. I got so tired of them, but they did make getting dressed in the morning so much easier. That is funny about you and your best friend. My best gal pal went out every September and bought the same Bass Weejuns loafers! I actually think you might have something with the idea to do a regular shoe post… I love shoes enough and have enough shoes that I could maybe do that. Hmmmm.. ๐Ÿ’ก

        1. I call them bags too.. it always went against my tomboy self to call them purses. My Mom did call them purses. A bag post would be fun. I do have a post on my blog with some of my boots arranged on a rug in the shape of a โ™ฅ

  12. A very attentive hubby. Very cute slippers. And I understand the love of foods except in my older years my feet are not adaptable to anything but sneakers and flip-flops. So I focusing on those. Preferably flip-flops. Cute pic, Pix.
