Share Your World~2014 Week 51

I am linking to Cee’s Photography blog for Share Your World. Each week she asks four questions with a bonus question and we get to share a little about our ourselves.

Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why?
I like snow in winter but I want it to just be a flurry of snow that is pretty and gone the next day.

So, you are on your way out and it’s raining. Do you know where your umbrella is or do you frantically search for it all over your apartment/house?
We have three umbrellas.. aren’t we just so prepared? Impressive. One umbrella on the wall going out to The Porch with CH’s collection of hats and one umbrella in each vehicle. We never use the umbrellas… almost never.

Do you prefer your food separated or mixed together?
I want it separated on the plate unless it is noodles or gravy on top of mashed potatoes. But each fork or spoonful has a combination of FOOD loaded on it. For the people that know me.. how shocked are you that I do not have a picture of a plate of FOOD? Just imagine a cheeseburger with melted American cheese, mayo, toasted buttered bun, and a blob of ketchup on the plate for dipping cheeseburger before each bite.

What is set on the background of your computer?
For the Holidays.. our sweet Country Cat that left us too soon in 2009.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are looking forward to in the week coming up?
Grateful last week for our family Christmas and looking forward this week to a break in Doctor’s appointments.. fingers crossed. And a glass of wine!

  1. great post…..Pix. Here lately we are thinking NC has shifted to the northwest…it will not stop raining…it rained 5 days last week, had 2 sunny now rain again. I have 2 umbrellas in my car two in the house.
WE used threaten to get our daughter one of the toddler divider plates when she was a teen…she went through a spell of not wanting her food touching.
    Hugs madi and cecilia

    1. Madi and Cecilia I am so happy you did questions in comments! Funny about your daughter.. I used to keep food on my plate separated by bread crust. NOTHING could touch and I had to eat all of one thing at a time! I read you had lots of rain… wait for it, at least it isn’t snow! Hugs to you and scritches to Madi!

  2. Ha! This was so much fun, Pix. You can imagine that in my house growing up with a strict German mother and a stricter Army Sergeant father that no personal foibles were tolerated the dinner table. Your little bread crust strategy would never have passed muster! Great photos especially of sweet Country Cat.

  3. Aw…the Cardinal, my favorite bird! Beautiful photo, Pix! I’m with you, love snow but I want it gone the next day, especially if I have to drive to work. Ha ha…I have three umbrellas too. One is in the backseat of my car, one is at my desk at work and the other is in the laundry room. Wow, we are so much alike…food…separate…definitely! My background has a photo of a Tufted Tit Mouse that was on our feeder last year during a big snow…big for Charlotte. πŸ™‚ I’m grateful for the time I was able to spend with my parents on Christmas.

    1. I so understand the time with your parents. CH’s Mom is the only parent left for the two of us… she is 86 and we know how important it is to enjoy every moment. Tufted Titmousers are fun birds, we love the Chickadees too. Umbrellas are pretty useless I think.. πŸ™‚ Snow is fine as long as it doesn’t get in the way of where I have to go!

      1. Oh yes. My mother is in the early stages of dementia, so I can’t help but wonder what next Christmas will be like.
I LOVE the Tufted Titmouse…they’re so friendly and not afraid of people. The Black-capped Chickadees are my favorite too. We never see a Titmouse without a Chickadees…they’re good buds. πŸ™‚ I agree, umbrellas are useless especially when walking downtown between tall building and the wind is howling…that was my experience this morning while going into work. 😦

        1. Jill I did not know about your Mother. No wonder you were grateful to see your parents this Christmas. My Aunt Margie had Alzheimer’s. She was such a character, I miss her. I can still see her in her red Ked’s tennies.. πŸ™‚ Umbrellas and the wind make for some interesting experiences!!!!!

  4. You made the jump off the high dive–right into the Share Your World pool! I missed Cee’s post somehow, so I’ll have to do mine Tuesday. Your Cardinal buddy would like to borrow your umbrella. You have some of the best pictures! I’m glad you’re taking this opportunity to share your gifts, talents, and wit with more readers.

    1. Yeah Patti I made the jump but I will miss playing in your comments. I think I was more spontaneous at your blog. If I start to bog down I hope I can come back and play in your comments again. I am looking forward to your SYW! Thank you for the kind words Patti. I NEED to start picking up my camera again, need to start looking at the world around me and noticing the birds! I got a cool new camera strap. I should click it and post on Instagram!!!!

      1. You are always welcome to come play in my comments, Pix! I need to get into the habit of posting on Instagram. Maybe once things settle down I can get back in the groove. I liked when it showed up on my blog. I can add that feature, but I may have to get rid of something else in the sidebar. I hope we get to see that cool new strap!

  5. Hi Pix! I enjoyed reading your answers. I’m feel just like you in regard to snow! Just a wee little bit is fine with me.
I know you miss your sweet Country Cat…that is a pretty photo! And so is the cardinal…one of my favorite birds. My mostly white ball of fur is trying to get my attention as I type this. I’m proud to say that both of our Christmas trees are still standing! lol!
Wishing you and CH a Happy New Year!

    1. I miss Country Cat too. CH and I have an on going discussion about getting another kitty but it just hasn’t happened. Stormy is snoopervising your computer activity. Yay for the trees still being up.. πŸ˜€ Wishes for a very Happy New Year to you and your Family Cheryl. It will be fun to see your large project come along!

  6. Great answers Pix! I echo most of your answers to the questions too except it would be sharp cheddar on the burger vs. American…..(tee hee). Seriously though, we have a bazillion umbrellas all over the house and out in the cars and I DO use them……why? Because I HATE pulling the hood of my jacket up over my head and messing up my barely there hair…..silly? You betcha but that’s me. Cardinals are all over the place around here and whenever we have a snow and there are 10-20 of them out around our birdfeeders I just can’t get enough of watching them……red on white…..simply perfect! Here’s to a HEALTHY and HAPPY new year my sweet friend.

    Love, Pam (and Sam)

    1. I don’t like my barely there hair smooshed either but umbrellas and I don’t get along. My hair doesn’t do well in humidity either so a visor or hat hides the whole problem for me πŸ˜€ Thanks for the HEALTHY (I see Dr. S today) and HAPPY (clap along!) wishes. Thanks for being there Pam!

    1. Good news Easy! The blaster thingie busted the stone.. Don’t have to go back for a year!!! Thank you for your crossed paws!! I can remember when I was MUCH MUCH younger and snow was fun because I could take my VW Bug and do donuts on the school parking lot. Now I just don’t want to get the car dirty!

  8. what a cheerful cardinal, Pix. i like my snow the way you do – here yesterday and gone today πŸ˜€ or else far away on the mountaintops so that there is lots of nice fresh snow to feed the water reservoirs and to enable all those skiing and snowboarding to have enough for their heart’s content, and nothing on the roads and sidewalks here.

wishing you all the very best for the new year – good health, plenty of sunshine and enough rain, reasons for laughter and many unexpected blessings at surprising moments and in unanticipated places. do take care! hugs from me and purrs from Timmy.

  9. I’m late! Our holidays were so special and fun, I hate to let them go. No snow here…yet. Grandson keeps hoping. We have umbrellas everywhere: in the closet by the door, a small one in the front seat side pocket, a larger one in the trunk of the car and one large one in the truck. One of our college campuses has a parking garage and I sure love using it and forgoing any gear when it rains.

Happy New Year, Pix! Fun post and great conversation.

  10. Hi! My husband’s grandfather used to always mix all his food up on the plate. I have always been a take a bite of this, then take a bite of that kind of eater. It all goes to the same place, but I like to taste individual flavors. LOL! Happy New Year and blessings to you and your family.

So happy to hear from you. I am sending you hugs and lots of love right back. And yes, a break in the Dr.’s visits has happened! Yay!

    1. I edited the post so you wouldn’t be confused. I think the way I originally typed the sentence confused more than one person. We almost never use the umbrellas. All the hats are worn by my husband.. he doesn’t wear all of the hats at the same time. Thank you for the visit and thank you for pointing out the ambiguity in the sentence.
