Pet Remembrance Day 2014

I am joining Isobel at IsobelandCat’s Blog today for the fouth time in remembering all of the pets that made our lives so much richer with their presence. Not just our pets but all the pets that have passed on. This photo gallery does not include all of the pets CH and I have loved but they are the ones that I could find and scan the old pictures. The Z Cat, also known as Country Cat was with us from May 2001-January 2009. CH and I so enjoyed going through old pictures yesterday afternoon. So many happy memories. All our loved pets tucked tightly in our hearts.

All these furry and feathery pets made my heart happy and made my life brighter. They made me laugh and made me cry. They taught me about living in the moment and living every moment with happiness. All my pets taught me about kindness.

Tonight CH and I will light candles and put them in the window and we will raise a glass of Missouri wine in the happy remembrance of all the pets that found their way into hearts all over the world and made us better people and taught us about love and respect and dignity till the end. And we will celebrate the pets that are living and filling hearts with their sweet companionship.

Kitty at KittyHere There, or Anywhere has shared a Pet Remembrance Post.

    1. Bev it’s not emoticons in general I was whining about. I NEED them to talk in comments. I just truly don’t like these new ones WP is using. I want the old smilies back!!!! Thanks for the good words on Pet Remembrance Day post. And so thankful Forrest is well and good!

  2. What a beautiful batch of photos of pets of the past Pix……they certainly may leave us at the end of their journeys on earth but they are forever “planted” in our hearts and souls aren’t they. Thinking of my past “pet kids” makes me hold even tighter to my Sammy. Have a nice quiet Sunday! (and a glass of Missoureeeee wine for me!).

    Hugs, Pam

  3. Aw…..such sweet photos, and I’m sure sweet memories for you and CH. I just can’t imagine a life without a pet. There’ve been a few periods when I was without a kitty, but they didn’t last long! Happy Sunday, PIx!

    1. Bud Bird is Green Cheek Conure and he is a parrot. Green Cheek’s are in a parrot subfamily. He is eating chicken and noodles out of that plate, it was his favorite food besides banana. He cracked me up! We loved our silly birds.

  4. What a great collection of pampered pets, Pix.
Ironic that your parrot ate chicken ~ “It’s a Bird Eat Bird World!”

Enjoy your remembrance ceremony this p.m.

    1. Thanks for the visit Kate! We loved our birds but I would never have birds again, can’t live with seeing them caged. I love your kitties and love reading about them! CH and I have had many more pets between us but that is all the pictures I could find for this post. I have had 7 cats in my life.

      1. I feel the same way about birds. Love the bigger ones but I feel you need a sunroom without cat access where they can live outside a cage. I think about my poor canaries. We used to put a water cage on their regular cage so they could bath and they loved it. They really need to be free and in a warm climate. I believe ours ultimately died because of drafts or odors. They are very susceptible to both.

  5. A Pet Remembrance Day is a great idea. I have always had pets, except for a few years here and there, and have fond memories of all of them. Loved seeing your photos of your sweet feathered/furbabies. Enjoy this MissouREE sunshine today even though it is chilly!

  6. Yes indeed the pets teach us so much about unconditional love. Your fur(feather)babes are beautiful.
I’ll raise my glass of Duplin Brice’s Creek to them too

    1. Hi Isobel! We just got home from CH’s Mom’s house. Don’t know if you are still up but we are pouring our Catawba now. Clinking glasses to Cat, Z Cat and all the pets that have passed. Yankee candle lit! Spanky was an odd little girl, not the sharpest tool in the shed. Sleepy ditto but he was a lover. Z, well you know how I feel about her!

        1. We did. We loved Saturday afternoon going through pictures. I found other pictures. One of Tinker with her 6 kittens before we knew better and a couple of horses and our parakeets but they didn’t scan well.

  7. Loved the pictures! Pets do make a difference in our lives! When we do have to say good bye, it sometimes hurts so deeply that we think we will never be able to love another one, but then one day that perfect little something comes along and those thoughts are gone! Our hearts just grow bigger with each one that we love! There is still that special place for each one in our hearts! Then other times we may think that we don’t need another one, but some little fuzzy something comes along and decides differently for us!
