Random Five Friday

DSC_0245 - Copy

Can’t help but wonder how this little guy is doing. CH found him toodling along on his own March of 2012. Kept an eye on him and it became clear he was too little to be out of the nest and no adult squirrel was around to take care of him. As it started to get dark there were too many dangers for a little squirrel. I am hoping little Squee is thriving out in his own bit of country with a little girl squirrel and a family.

My Nook died. Not really, but that is the excuse I am making for the Kindle Paperwhite making its way toward me. I am excited. Amazon has such a better selection of books to choose from than Barnes and Noble. AND I have Sharechair blog to help me get the most out of my Kindle.. 🙂

CH is in Florida with The Mama. The house is too quiet. I love my alone time but I might, I say might have overrated its importance. A little goes a long way. But the house is clean.. 😀 That might be overrated too. And I miss his cooking!

The Kinda Big City of Jefferson City has come up in the world and they now have a Chick-fil-A. Another reason to be all giddy but it seems I am not the only one that is giddy over chicken because there are more peeps than I ever thought possible thinking they want some Chick-fil-A too and they are in my way to getting an 8-count box of chicken nuggets. I’m not sure but it may be that I eat the chicken nuggets just so I can dip them in the Honey Mustard sauce.

I find it totally baffling when people pull out in front of me and creep along when there is not one single car behind me for miles. Couldn’t they have waited to take their mile of deserted road? This last random fact a result of frustration over trying to get an 8-count of Chick-fil-A nuggets. Hmm, I may have to settle for a… CHEESEBURGER! That would be just awful.. 😀

Joining Nancy from a Rural Journal once again for her Random Five Friday!

  1. Love your “randomness” today Pix……I remember little “Squee”……so incredibly little and all alone. Bless you for giving him a chance…….and did you say CHEESEBURGER? I thought so…..now I want one…..for breakfast!

    Hugs, Pam

    1. Me toooooooooo – I want a cheeseburger for breakfast! I could really eat one too!! Yes I hope Squee is ok and a HAPPY little squirrel! I am stuck on Pharrell’s song HAPPY too. I play it every morning while I do comments!

  2. Oh, yes, I remember Squee….I just bet he’s a happy ol’ married man by now! 😉 Well, while CH is in Florida, you oughta hop a plane and come to Virginia! I’d just twirl you all around the state, and we’d meet lots of other Virginia bloggers!
Lucky you on the Chik-Fil-A… the traffic will die down a LITTLE, once the newness wears off, but they’ll stay busy. We don’t have one in our little town; we have to drive about 30 minutes to get to the nearest one.
And it bugs the daylights out of us for someone to pull out in front of us and POKE. Sheesh…some road rage is definitely warranted!
    Have a good day, Pix…!

    1. Well Virginia and you twirling me around the state sounds like FUN! But CH would not be HAPPY if I left him behind! We used to drive two hours for Chick-fil-A, it was a beautiful drive.. 🙂 And now I am hungry for Cracker Barrel!!!!!!!!!! It’s not so much the going slow that bothers me, it is that there is NOBODY BEHIND me. They could have the road to themself/themselves. Themself.. is that even a word? I checked out Georgettes blog yesterday and all the discussions about word usage and punctuation freaked me out. English was my best subject and I almost majored in it but I have let my word skills go a bit on the blog.. 😯

  3. I remember the baby squirrel story and I am sure he is striving in his own neck of the woods ♥ We have a Chick-fill-A in our parking lot at work…yummm… But it was ever so busy the first few months they were open. Now it’s just a stroll across the parking lot for a yummy chicken delight of my choice. Don’t eat there too often though cause some spice or preservative they use doesn’t agree with my system…no matter how great it taste 😦
Enjoy you alone time… I know I do when I get it 🙂

    1. Carol I think Chick-fil-A is pretty spicy! Lots of peppa.. 😯 It is a very good thing I do not have a Chick-fil-A that close to me. Alone time has been good for me but I am done with it! Enjoy your day!

    1. Yes.. 😆 … we are fickle! Little Squee was truly an experience. It was very hard to give him up. He loved his tummy rubs. He would wrap his little squirrel body around CH’s finger and chatter for tummy rubs… sigh. Enjoy your Friday too Jolynn. Hope the wine making is progressing well.

  5. (Lovin’ your new blog format — very cool!)
I guess I don’t understand the Chick Fillet (bad spelling) thing — but it’s that way in Omaha too — standing room only.
And I remember Squee — I hope he/she is doing well. xo

    1. Thanks on the blog format, I think you were the first to notice.. 🙂 It needs tweaking. I can read it without my glasses or contacts. Picture header-no header. Chick-fil-A’s nuggets call to me. And the honey mustard. Thanks for R5F!!!

  6. I hope the little guy is well and lives happy in an ole oak tree, far away from me, Molly and Ruby :o) Maybe some car drivers think we still live in the ole “prairie-schooner-times” where they liked to drive in a row?

  7. wow, you changed your blog – i was wondering if i was at the same blog??! i think drivers are in their own world?!? some are so out to lunch – seriously … that they should not be out on the roads. i take driving very seriously. when i am tired or whatever kind of mood – i don’t drive. & if i am in that mood – i get it past me … i leave it for another time. crying & driving is not good!! so not smart. 1. Barb my comments to you at your blog are getting eaten up by the blogger comment monster! I just tried to comment and poof it was gone. I am going to try again. I am glad to hear that you LOVE your Paperwhite. Anxiously waiting for mine to be delivered. I want to read your book reviews.. 🙂 I am at the end of my need for alone time.. 😀 I read your post on solitude. I think I left a comment on that and your four year recovery anniversary but the comment isn’t there. Nice to see you and thanks for stopping by! Take care of Lucinda B.!

  10. Loved the picture! How sweet and I hope that he lives with his girl squirrel and their happy little family too!

Yes, I too love that honey mustard sauce too! It is the best to me and it must be why we order those nuggets! They are good, but the sauce makes them awesome!!!

  11. Oh my goodness that little baby squirrel is so cute. I do hope he survived and is thriving on his own.
We don’t have Chick-fil-A’s here (Just KFC) so I don’t know what they are like. It is frustrating waiting for food though and yes traffic is also very frustrating at times. I hate people who pass you only to pull into a driveway a few feet ahead.

  12. I’m two thumbs up on the Kindle Paperwhite. Ditto ShareChair – very helpful. Good luck with it. I’m on my second one. I threw my first Paperwhite into the washing machine at the laundromat… Yeah. That happened.

  13. I remember cute little Squee! I do hope he’s living a good life and eating lots of acorns!
The Kindles and Nooks are great, and I have both, but I would still rather have a real book in my hands! The Nook is great for travel, tho. My Kindle is old, but still works. As far as I know. lol!
The drivers who irk me the most are the ones that get in behind me, especially at night, and stay right on my bumper. There might be 10 miles of highway behind me and the same in front of me, but you can always count on somebody dogging you every mile. Jerks. That has to be one of my Top Ten Peeves!
Have a super duper weekend, Pix! Don’t get into too much trouble while CH is away!

    1. I have been good while he has been gone. Well, except for the Paperwhite shopping spree.. 😀 I think peeps follow close when it’s dark so they can let YOU lead the way! I still read real books and prefer them but it sure is nice to order one up.. 🙂 Enjoy this beautiful Saturday Cheryl cause the MissouREE weather is going to misbehave Sunday!

  14. I am glad someone else wants to now the after stories of the animals they rescue. I feel the cats I have taken to Hamilton’s should have a warning that I shall want follow up stories and pictures.
And I know exactly what you mean about drivers that pull out aggressively in front of you when there is nothing behind, and then crawl. Must be a global thing.

  16. I hope you get your nuggets soon! There’s one close enough I can WALK to. If you take Dianna up on her offer, come on down! They have great tea, too. The Polynesian sauce is my favorite. I know what you mean, that car pulled out in front of me, too. Surely there’s only ONE. A little alone time is nice now and then. I hope Squee found a great place to live. Hubby is watching the news. The more we learn about that missing plane, the crazier it gets.

  17. Sure hope little Squee is raising a family and they’ll come and visit you! Chik-fil-a — enjoy … i’ll take the cheeseburger! I don’t have a “reader” or a smart phone … doing well to have the laptop! There is just something about holding the book and turning the pages. I think there is an unwritten law … a car will turn in front of you if you are the only car on the road … ptuii! 😉 Happy weekend.

    1. Oh I love a CHEESEBURGER! Yes I do!! Craving one right now.. 🙂 I agree about the real thing with books. I prefer a book, love to flip the real pages and smell the book and hold it but the convenience of ordering a book in the boonies with 4 inches of snow on the way is very nice! So true about the car.. so true! Happy weekend to you Snap!

  18. Chick-fil-A? It would take an awful lot of honey mustard. Let’s talk about the Kindle…I can’t wait to click on your Share link. i’ve read from a Kindle for years and this is new for me! Traffic, pot holes the size of an elephant, slow cars–I heart you. That squirrel is so cute. Men are a mixed blessing, aren’t they?

  19. I like my Kindle (the original, no internet browsing capability) as it keeps me focus on just reading and not wander off to other things 🙂 I love the feel of books and turning the page in my hands until my son gave me the Kindle. It fitted perfectly in my handbag and it’s light too.
Glad you saved that little baby Squee!

    1. Hello Icy! The Kindle Paperwhite I purchased is just a reader. No bells and whistles. Just read and wi-fi to connect to the Amazon store to buy books. No internet browsing. I am glad we were able to help Squee too! It was a little iffy at first, we didn’t know what to do with him.. 🙂 We figured it out.

  20. Made me think how much it makes me crazy when someone pulls out in front of me at the last second when I’m hauling horses. Ugh…not nice, especially when they could’ve waited two seconds. Anywaaaaay…. 🙂 I really should join this Random 5 Friday thing, love it.
    Have a great day!
