Thankful Thursday!

DSC_1994 - CopyThis lovely gallery wrap of a buoy marker came from Dianna from These Days of Mine. Dianna took the picture of this buoy/channel marker in the Pagan River not far from her home and posted it on her blog last October titled Misty Morning Fog. I fell in love with the photo and proceeded to comment on Dianna’s blog about how much I loved it.. 😀 This channel marker has a nest on top, most probably an Osprey nest and that was the clincher. When CH was assigned to Washington, D.C. in 1989 we had our boat at a marina off the Potomac River. We often spent long evenings after he got home and weekends in a cove called Mattawoman Creek. It was there we watched closely the raising of a family of Ospreys. Our time spent in D.C. was stressful and getting out on the boat with some very dear friends was what got us through those four years. All kinds of memories came flooding back with Dianna’s photo.

This is the picture Dianna posted to her blog. Such a beautiful picture she composed and captured. If you would like to see her original post click here. Well Dianna has a big heart and the gallery wrap with her picture showed up at our house and now we have a beautiful picture taken by a dear to me blog friend that adds even more “special” to our memories. Dianna knows how near and dear this gift is to our hearts. Dianna has talked me through setting up an account on Facebook, answered questions I have had about posting to WordPress, shares a love of horses, kitties and old barns. I hope to meet her in person! Such a thoughful gift Dianna, you are a special lady. Thank you so much! I was just hoping to get a copy of the original! Dianna takes some gorgeous pictures and she has been published several times. One of her pictures has been selected for the 2015 Corolla Wild Horse Fund Calendar! Look for March! Visit Dianna at These Days of Mine for her beautiful pictures and blog posts filled with stories from her heart and some laughter too. Her Husband Motor Man and her son Marshall add charm and humor and her sweet cats Sundae and Gypsy do guest posts. She enjoys clicking and sharing beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the water from their lovely home in Virginia.

  1. Well I agree that Dianna’s photography skills are beyond compare and that is one gorgeous shot to be sure… was especially kind of her to get the gallery wrap done of this for you – something you can treasure always from your good friend here in Virginia!
    Hugs, Pam

  2. Oh, my….I’m blushing….. and I do believe my head is swelling just a bit. What sweet things to say about all of us, Pix! I’m SO glad you are enjoying the buoy marker canvas. You are one of my most loyal readers and commenters, and I thank you for that.
I hope we are able to meet in person one day, too. That would be so special!
Thanks again for your friendship, Pix!

  3. Oh what a beautiful picture and to have it as a gift and have it mean so much with attached fond memories is wonderful 🙂 clever Dianna 🙂 and as for Opsreys they are wonderful…I actually had just finished a blog post on Wedge Tail Eagles..must be raptor night!! and I love the new header 🙂 hugs Fozziemum xx

    1. Yep Fozzimum it’s very special and much appreciated. We loved the Ospreys. When we were on vacation in Florida mid-February there was an Osprey nest at our favorite restaurant. You could see them from the outside seating. We didn’t see any babies then but CH is back in Florida now and he told me last night he and The Mama had lunch there and he saw three little heads pop up.. 😀 Hugs back at you Fozziemum.. so nice to have you back!!!

      1. Oh how exciting!! birds of prey are such dynamic creatures..all aniamls are amazing but the fact they can lift off and soar among the tree tops just gets me in the happy parts 🙂 🙂 and thankyou it is lovely to be back on board 🙂 Hugs Fozziemum xxx

  4. It’s beautiful, she really has an eye for great shots, some she took in winter were really artpieces. Sometimes pictures can inspire to write a story, think this one could be a great inspiration. maybe we should have a bloghop for a story behind a picture :o) I will ask Mollie&Alfie, could be a great idea :o)

    1. It IS a great idea you have Easy! I also enjoyed Time Warp Blog Hop.. 🙂 Pictures do inspire to write a story. I usually pick a picture I like and let the words meander willy-nilly from the picture. Thanks for the visit Easy!

  5. What a lovely story and the picture is gorgeous!!! i love it. I definitely will be hopping over to check out her blog—-it looks like a great new one for me to add to my follow list. Thanks!!!

  6. Gorgeous photo. No wonder you fell in love with it. And what a wonderful gift to receive.

We loved the ospreys in MD and felt sad leaving them when we flew south ~ as it turns out, we see more osprey and osprey nests here than we did on the Chesapeake.

  7. Pix – I enjoyed this very much. Just reading about good Washington memories and old n new friends. And it is such a nice picture to enjoy every day. Thanks!

Just say "hey"! Say more if you want, that's good too :)
