We Are Back… Sigh.

DSC_1970 - CopyWe are back from Florida-dee. I have no idea who these people are, I just fell in love with the lady’s yellow hat. She has no idea I was stalking her cheery floppy sunny yellow hat. We have been in Venice, Florida since January 31st, which is why I have not been commenting and visiting blogs. I missed doing the blog thing but it was a nice break and we were just so busy playing in the sand, eating FOOD and shopping.

Have I mentioned how busy we were eating food? Grouper sandwiches, sesame encrusted salmon, grouper sandwiches, loaded hot dogs at the jetty in Venice, all the deli goodies from The Publix which is my most favorite FOOD store in Venice, grilled grouper, fried grouper, blackened grouper.. well you have the idea.

DSC_1962I do know who this person is and I know that he was a very happy person in Florida-dee. This happy person wants to spend the rest of his life in Florida, walking the beach, finding shark teeth and wearing shorts ALL THE TIME! No COLD weather clothes for this guy. I hope he remembers to take me when he spends the rest of his life in Florida.

DSC_1947 - CopyI want to live in this house if the happy person up above does not forget to take me. I walked past this house every day on my way to downtown Venice. Had to walk walk walk so I could keep eating eating eating grouper sandwiches. I would of course have to change the name of this blog to Under the Palms. No problem!

DSC_1954 - CopyI wanted to bring this guy back but he wouldn’t fit in our vehicle. He would have made a great lawn ornament and a refreshing change to the rural landscape of The Tiny Ten. So happy will be me to be back visiting your blogs and commenting cause I have missed all of you and I have lots to say don’t ya know!

I did want to say that all of you caught in the ice and snow storm in the south, Georgia and the Carolinas, Virginia and moving up the coast, well I am hoping you all get your power back quickly and you are all safe and haven’t suffered property damage. We had a little experience with that storm traveling through Atlanta, Chattanooga and Nashville. Thinking of you all!

  1. MISSSSS PIXXXXXX!!! Mom and I have missed you……looks like you had a whole lotta fun, sun, and shorts on the beach there in Florida-land. My Mom lived there in her previous life (Clearwater) and I’m sure it was nice to get away from winter for a while and visit with your friends there. Still we’re happy to “see” you back home – even if CH has had to change his shorts for sweatpants! That turtle would have made a magnificent lawn ornament…..too bad you couldn’t swipe it and bring it home………….hee hee

    Hugs, Sammy (and his Mom)

    1. We cut it short because of the ice storm in Atlanta. We were afraid if there was an extended power outage we wouldn’t be able to pump gas. That happened to us one year coming back. We were hoping to see Vero Beach on the way home.. 🙂

    1. Venice is a pretty area and it holds lots of memories for us. It is full of a bunch of oldsters.. 🙂 You may not find that appealing but for us it keeps things quiet. We spend time in Siesta Key and Boca Grande too. The ocean, sun, sand and good food! I know you are a beach gal Beth!

  7. It’s good to see you back, Pix! Glad you had a great time on your getaway. Sounds like you might be trading in the oaks for some palm trees? Am looking forward to hearing more about your trip. Did you bring some grouper home? 🙂

    1. No we didn’t bring any grouper home, just a bunch of sand in the car.. 😀 At some point I think we will trade the oaks for palm trees but I am not sure when. You would think we would be ready to head to Venice for good, we have been going there since 1995!

  10. That is a nice-looking house. I think I’d like to live where I could were shorts year-round, too. Enough of this winter stuff! We got an inch of snow or so, then it turned to rain and washed it all away. Maybe that was our first spring shower! So glad to have you back. This is the perfect time of year to go somewhere to remember what warm is.

  11. welcome back Pix! sounds like you had a wonderful time. maybe i missed something – but whatever is a ‘grouper’?! have never heard the term before. is it something so big that it takes more than one person to eat it?

toes in sand sounds so delightful. remember the warm winter i was tell you that we were having? well, the real winter came a couple of days ago. a fair bit of snow on the ground since Saturday – a fair bit by our standards. still nothing as serious as what has been happening in your corner of the planet or on the east coast. and it is supposed to all melt away again by tomorrow and the weather is turning balmy again by the weekend. but that is then, and this is now, and toes in sand sounds very delightful indeed!

glad you had such a good time on your trip. do take care & blog when you are up to it. no pressure! Timmy sends you purrs. 🙂

    1. Hi Chris! Grouper is a fish.. 🙂 Very popular in Florida. It is a big ugly fish in my opinion but served on a plate or a sandwich it comes as a small white fillet that is very tasty, not fishy tasting. Delicious fried but I try to stick to the healthier option of grilled. I figured you were getting snow cause TinyKittens foster Mom has big snow out her windows and said it is unusual for them! Thank Timmy for his purrs, I love them.. ♥
