We Fought the Polar Vortex and the Polar Vortex Won.

DSC_0038 - Copy - Copy
Hello! Well the Polar Vortex beat us down and we had to leave the Tiny Ten. We headed to The Mama’s for three days. No internet there! We had a festive time though because her Christmas tree refuses to jump back in the storage box. That would be cause we still have not had our Family Christmas. The weather has misbehaved badly every flippin’ weekend we have tried to get together and “Make Merry”. We made Merry at The Mama’s for our short stay and had wine time and ate FOOD and let the Christmas tree be all happy with its lights all twinkly. So now after 10 inches of snow, minus 9, minus 11, 1 degree for a high on Monday, I’m saying ONE ding dang degree for the HIGH people!… So now it’s going to be 60 degrees on Sunday for our Family Christmas. We are all going to be there with our flip flops, shorts, and bottles of sunscreen! MissouREE and its crazy wacky weather!

So I will be back to visiting your blogs and getting caught up. I hope everyBODY else is coming out of the deep freeze and is doing just fine. See ya soon in comments!

*If you have a few extra minutes please visit Dianna’s blog, These Days of Mine and watch and listen to a video she has on her post “Do You Have Six Minutes?” .. you won’t be sorry, maybe a little teary but happy tears! A moving video!

  1. Good grief, girlie! I’ve been thinking about ya! At least, you had a pleasant time (albeit without internet) at the Mama’s.
Love your header and the little birdie, although he does look ccccold…..

      1. I am just now at your blog! I didn’t see a notice but we didn’t get back till late last night. Our front door and side door are frozen shut, seriously! I have to get food later so I will put on the farm boots and walk around to the front door and see. Thank you Dianna, hugs. CH managed to get gout AGAIN during all this so we aren’t getting around outside to do much clearing.. OY!

  2. Well what the heck?? I did not think the polar vortex would get to you but it seems it did!!!! Sounds like you made the best of it and hopefully warmer days are ahead. We had the really horrible cold here too but we arrived back from NC early to beat the bad stuff and just hunkered down inside. On a warming trend now—it was minus 3 this morning instead of worse. Count it all joy, right?

    1. Thanks Terri! You got some of the polar vortex? It went pretty far south I thought. We are looking forward to getting together. I think The Mama is tired of having a Christmas tree in the living room.. 🙂

  5. Although you got “Frozen out” of home, the silver lining is a little post-holiday family time which is always nice. The vortex is sucking the life out of me here in the east. Hoping for the warm up soon and dreaming of flip flops

  6. Wow that sounds very bad to have to leave the Tiny Ten. I am glad you are safe and that you finally had your Christmas.
We have got to take this climate change seriously and mend our ways.

  7. Vortex, Shmortex…..I’ve had it up to here (pointing at brain) with this cold stuff but you DEFINITELY have had it way worse than we have. At least you’ll finally get to have your Christmas….flip flops and Bermuda shorts will be fun as long as there’s plenty of wine around! I do hope you get those 60s….we’re excited to hear we may get some 40s. I’ll take that any old day. MERRY CHRISTMAS (again) !!

Hugs, Pam (and of course Sam)

  8. That polar vortex can just go take a hike! I’ve had enuf already. We got down to around -35 with the wind chill. Yesterday it got into the 20’s and I felt like I might survive. Our poor furnace (of which we need a new one) couldn’t keep up when it was so frigid and I stayed chilly 24/7.

I’ll be sharing the story of the kitten probably next week in a post. He’s a cutie, but he’s got a home to go to soon. Sniff, sniff. You know how I get attached to the little boogers.

Have a fun, family Christmas, Pix! Enjoy the warmer weather while it lasts.

    1. Oooo Cheryl a home is good.. 🙂 We have a heat pump which I think is ridiculous for MissouREE winters!!! But it does the job and when it gets too cold it switches over to electric heat… ka-ching! I am going to enjoy every minute of over 32 degrees. I hope your foundation work gets done!!!

    1. Misaki you know what I am going to say! I know you would delight in playing in it and if I could send it to you I would if your Mom would promise to take pictures. You can have all 10 inches of it and the drifts too. I bet you would surf the snow.. 😀

    1. Hi Carol! That is just what Isobel from Isobel and Cat’s blog and I were just talking about, the flooding. She is in London. Maybe we should just have Christmas in July.. 🙂

  9. We have been pretty darn cold here and I didn’t leave the house for 3.5 days. Luckily our furnace maintained a comfy temp inside and I had lots of projects to keep me from going stir crazy. Have fun at your family celebration. We are having Christmas with my son’s family on Saturday 🙂

    1. We had a wonderful Family Christmas Julie! I am pretty sure I told you all at Dog Trot Merry Christmas and Happy New Year but if not I am wishing you the Bestest 2014 and hoping it will be all you want it to be! It has been a little chaotic in our life the last few days. Hoping we will go back to dull and boring.. 🙂

  11. what a sweet bird. hi Pix, it’s me Chris, from pix & kardz and I am currently signed into photojourneying and need to call it a day but I still wanted to check out your corner of the planet. the temps you mention are in Fahrenheit so I have done a little conversion to Celsius for my benefit, and i think it would have been better not to know how cold it really was. Brrrr! that is crazy!!!

anyhow, glad you had a good time at the Mama’s. if it is any consolation, i only just took down our Christmas decorations yesterday, with Timmy’s assistance. he was even more keen to take them down than he was to put them up.

anyhow, time to sign out and call it a day. thanks for your cheery post. stay warm! happy new year – and a Merry Christmas to you, too. 🙂

    1. Hi Chris! I love it when you visit!! I am sure Timmy was most excellent help with the decorations.. 🙂 I think I need to follow your photojourneying blog. I was trying to tell CH, the Husband, about your photojourneying blog and do you know that is a tongue twister of a blog name! We have warmed up into the 50’s now with sun but who knows tomorrow we could have a blizzard! Oh and that little bird is one of our winter visitors, a Junco.

      1. aw, thanks for your welcoming words. always good to be here, too. glad your weather has warmed up for you. it has been coolish and rainyish here. not cold enough for snow, so no complaints from me!

and you are very welcome to follow photojourneying. you could just call it PJ for short if that is easier, LOL and that actually sounds like it could make for some light before bedtime reading 😀

posts usually appear once a week over there and you can find out all about it on the gravatar info, which is similar in appearance to the pix & kardz gravatar. anyhow, do stay warm!
