Random 5 Friday

  1. “Nashville is 1 of 5 best places in the world to see in 2013”-Conde Nast Traveler. Nashville’s nightlife has one kickin’ rockin’ LOUD thumpin’ life of its own even on a Thursday night. Downtown was rockin’ and kickin’ until three in the morning when we were there on Valentine’s Day 2013 for Smokey Robinson’s date at the Schermerhorn Symphony. I am too old for all that nightlife. I was ready to curl up on the couch in our beautiful comfy hotel room and browse blogs but Mr. Smokey Robinson’s concert didn’t start until 8. I am too old for eight ohhhh clock! Downtown Honky Tonk Central taken from our top floor window.
  2. It snowed in our little bit of Missouri last night and it gave me a cranky that I still have this morning. More snow is coming Saturday night and Sunday. I predict an extended state of cranky. I predict the cranky to not lift until Missouri’s weather behaves more Springlike as it should for late March. Our daffies are defeated by the snow.
  3. Facebook is beyond my comprehension. What was I thinking?
  4. I love to Tweet.. 😀 I love Twitter!
  5. There is a starling hanging about our Tiny Ten that is entirely too much of a busybody around the bird houses that have been chosen by Rooster Wren and the Bluebirds. His character is questionable. And that is being nice. Arnie the Darling Starling~Margarete Sigl Corbo and Diane Marie Barras. I have this book and have read it many times. Our starling is no Arnie.

  1. Girlfriend! Just how is FB beating you up???? It’s so funny that I find that so easy, but have a Twitter account and have NEVER tweeted! I just don’t “get it”. We need to get together and school each other!
We were in Nashville several years ago on Halloween Night: oh, the sights we saw walking along near the Honky Tonks THAT night!
Sorry about your winter weather encroaching on spring. It will be here soon…

  3. That is one beautiful scene.. wow!! We visited Nashville. Once. That’s pretty good for us ol’ homebodies. Really enjoyed it! Facebook has become a big time-grabber for me and I am not pleased about that. I mean, really, why? lol. Not so familiar with Twitter. Consider me snow-cranky too!! Stay warm and safe out there.

  4. Have never been to Nashville but that’s one heck of a beautiful view in the photo……it truly IS a “happenin’ place” from what I’m told. As for the winter cranky thing……I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO over winter and can’t understand why on earth spring is taking its’ dingy-dangy old time getting here!! I don’t tweet myself – and I barely have time for Facebook – there’s just so many OTHER things that occupy my day! Who knew that retirement could be so time-consuming??? 😀 😀 😀

  5. Love Nashville! Memphis is pretty awesome too. I am a lurker on Facebook. It is amazing what you can learn about your kids and grandkids by just logging on and browsing through the posts. I’ve never tweeted… I think I’d become totally twitterpated! I cannot believe this weather. Dang ol’ rodent. I heard on the news that he was indicted for fraud. lol.

    Have a great day!

  6. We had snow last night…. and it is around 30 deg this a.m. Winter is puttin’ up a fight here in the maritime NW. To think I wandered around the garden, cleaning up the fallen stuff, which effectively removed the blanket of protection from my perennial beds. Sigh…

Being snowed in (in one’s head) requires one to sit in one’s special room and PLAN–maybe order than wine fridge! <:-D Or read a book, with eyes firmly rooted there on the page instead of outdoors….

    1. I am sitting in my special room at this very moment watching one lone turkey eat birdseed. I just ordered levi jeans from their dot com. Cheered me up a bit, except the cheeriness didn’t freakin’ last when I had to go UP a size. I hadn’t thought about the wine fridge.. 🙂 The fridge in the kitchen is 6 or 7 steps away! Obviously not far enough away as I had to go UP a size!

      1. 6 or 7 steps could mean the difference between a half-glass and an empty glass…. {shudder}

have you decided what to call your room? none o’ my bidness, but I know the room will develop a name with mucho Pix-ness.

Sorry about the clothing size–it is distressing–hey, how’d that happen?!

          1. The treadmill is weird–I tried it for the first time just before I was to leave the country last year. Didn’t like it then. So POINTLESS! <:-D And then this summer at the PTs I discovered on the treadmill that my brain was very unhappy on that moving thing. Yeah, sure–don't hang on, he says… !!

I dunno what today will bring. My spirits have been taking a beating while fighting the cold-bug…. I'll push myself to do a couple of hours of art–that holds off the waaaaaahs for a while… then read–an author Isobel recommended and I'm hooked (Ruth Rendell writing as Barbara Vine). Watch the Lovejoy series….

  7. Facebook is not as fun as it used to be and I’m extremely unhappy with Mother Nature these days too! I haven’t been to Nashville in many moons and would probably;y find it all overwhelming these days 🙂

  8. I love your photo of Nashville At Night, Pix! It’s one of our son’s favorite cities. He keeps telling us we need to go check it out. Oh, so many places to see and so little time!

I’m more than a little cranky! This crazy weather is getting to me. I’m thinking about getting in the car and going where it takes me…for the afternoon, that is, before the snow starts and messes with my head again. Enjoy your day!

  9. I signed up for Twitter for some reason, but don’t remember what it was now. Oh, to follow a workshop, I think, that didn’t work out. I’ve not used it for anything else. I use Facebook, not as much as I did, but that’s how I keep tabs on what is going on in my busy daughter’s life. I’ve never been to Nashville. Virginia Beach rolls up the streets at 2:00 a.m. Anxiously awaiting that first WARM DAY!

    1. I want a WARM DAY!!!!! I hear lots of people say they use FB to keep up with family and I think it is a handy tool for that. I am slowly catching on. I think I was trying to make it more difficult than it is.. 🙂

  13. I enjoyed your Friday 5. I’m sad to hear that you all are still getting snow. Maybe it’ll melt off soon and go away til next winter.
Twitter is like a one sided conversation to me. It’s annoying how they have it set up. It should have a choice of a 3 column window so you can tweet with folks, tweet your messages about the secrets of life to everyone and the third column to see what the folks you follow are tweeting and all manage all 3 things in streaming real time.
I like my twitter account for my blog as it runs by itself announcing my posts, but you know what, I rarely get a hit from twitter, so really my account there is useless.
    I admire your Twitterablity 🙂

    1. E.C. I like the direct message feature on Twitter. I would like to know how to announce my posts in the future. Is there a short link or how does that work? I like your idea of 3 column live streaming.. 🙂

  14. I would love to make it to Nashville someday. But I am not good with late nights either. I am on Facebook just so I can keep up with my daughter. Those young kids are on it all the time.
