Random Five Friday

We had our first afternoon out Under the Oaks yesterday afternoon listening to Mr. Smokey Robinson’s Time Flies and watching the Bluebirds fighting over a bluebird house. We have six bluebird houses but they all wanted the same one. It has been a long wait to get back out Under the Oaks. That is not my beer. I was drinking water. Seriously. I know! Hard to believe, huh? Which brings me to my Random Five this Friday.

  1. I drink lots of water. I drink between 8 and 10 20 FL OZ bottles of water every day.
  2. I was born without tonsils or wisdom teeth. Lucky me!
  3. Six months after my 16th birthday my Dad took me to get my driver’s license. When he parked the car he turned the front wheels into the curb. I did not take note of that maneuver. I jumped out and got behind the wheel, oh happy day! Officer Friendly, with his little brown clipboard ducked his flat top haircut head under the door frame and sat down.  I started the car and put it in drive and was met with some resistance. Officer Friendly said that I might want to give it a little more gas. I did. I ran over the curb and hit the parking meter. I didn’t get my driver’s license for another six months.  I actually am a very good driver. Ask my family.
  4. My first car was a turquoise VW Beetle with a stick. I have owned 5 Beetles but am now without a Beetle.
  5. I am not able to go a day without spooning out and eating a blob of Jiff Hazelnut and Chocolate spread followed by a glob of Jiff PB.

my first car was a 1965 Montana-Red VW bug convertible. Loved that car!

      1. yes, but here comes wine season Under the Oaks. See your gravatar? That’s how I know!

I drove that bug in Tucson even in the 105-degree summers–with the top down. Crazy!! I’m far too delicate for that kind of thing now! hee hee!

  3. What a cool Five you’ve shared. Good going on the water. I drink alot of water a day too, not as much as you though. That’s a shame about the driving incident though. mmm Hazelnut and chocolate, sounds yummy. I’m going to put that on my grocery list. 🙂

  4. Fun 5 you shared. Lucky you to be without tonsils and wisdom (they aren’t very wise — believe me) teeth. Funny driving story. My first car was a white ’57 Chevy! Have a great weekend — maybe a beer???!!!!

  6. I enjoyed your Random 5! I can relate to your car mishap. I didn’t get my driver’s license when I turned 16 either. During my driver’s ed on the road training, I ran off the road and hit a mailbox. No one was hurt, thank goodness. But I waited several months before trying to get my license!

  8. I have always loved bugs. Now, I have been thinking about camping but refuse to get an RV. Instead, I have been eyeballing VW camper vans

  9. Oh, I bet you were horrified at the situation when you tried for your drivers license. I remember being so nervous then. Ummm…you don’t eat the peanut butter straight out of the spoon, do you?

  10. OOPSIE on the driving test boo boo….hey – these things happen when we’re young! Interesting about the amount of water you drink – you’re gonna float away girl………….No wisdom teeth or tonsils? Are you sure you’re not an alien? HAHA Can’t poke fun at the PB and Jif Hazelnut Chocolate spread thing because I love Nutella – hadn’t thought to add the PB afterward though – thanks for the idea!

    1. No wisdom teeth cause all the dentist said there wasn’t room in there.. 🙂 Tonsils, the jury is still out. Not that much water, it is a 24 hour period. We counted my empties for a couple of days. I was pretty surprised myself. If we are out and about I don’t get that much water down.

    1. Terri the tonsils might have been there early on. The story goes that at some point a Dr. looked down my throat and said I didn’t have any. Said they could have just eaten themselves away or could have never had them. I don’t have em and I didn’t have them taken out! I am going to have to google.

  11. I think I had 3 accidents all within 1 month when I was 19 years old. My poor parents! I’m actually a great driver now.

Thanks so much for sharing your five at R5F today. xo

    1. Oh Nancy! Hope no one was hurt. I managed to go on and hit a stop sign trying to avoid a pup chasing a rabbit. I also had a little incident with my motorcycle but I won’t go there! And me too, I really am a good driver.. 🙂 I am enjoying both Tuesday Muse and Random 5!

  12. Your 5 made me giggle today—especially the driving story. I still hear my dad’s words ringing in my ears after I ran up over the curb—“there is a lot of power behind the wheel–you must be careful!”. Happy Friday!!!

  13. From this day forward, Pix will be my inspiration for drinking loads of water.. wow!! My sister and I were both born without lower wisdom teeth. Same for my son! We thought that WE were so special.. and now you’re sayin’ that you’re more special? lol.. now that is cool! I so enjoyed your random five! Oh, and wasn’t Friday ah-mazing? Still waiting on the bluebirds to start moving in here. You Southerners.. 😉

    1. Hey Tammy, I just realized some of them are 16.9 FL OZ.. 🙂 But the bulk of them are Walmart’s 20 FL OZ. Friday was a delicious day but we have a wintry mix going on right now and it is giving me a cranky because we had a lot of daffies pop yesterday. They are saying 2 to 4 inches of snow! They better be wrong!! Us Southerners! Crackin’ up.. 😆 I googled about the wisdom teeth, fairly rare while no tonsils not so much. So we’s special!

  14. I drink lots of water too. I have a fizzy water addiction. I need to get back to tap…
How do you know about the tonsils?
That’s a bit of a change in your weather isn’t it? The other week you were almost housebound!
Love your diving test story. 🙂

    1. I haven’t got any tonsils and never had them out. We have a wintry mix coming down now and 2 to 4 inches of snow on the way. It was 80 degrees here Friday and CH worked out in the yard all day yesterday. The weather is crazy making!

  15. I only had one wisdom tooth. When I had to have it pulled, my brother sent me a telegram telling me not to give it up, it was my only hope. LOL My latest fave is Peanut Butter & Co. White Chocolate Wonderful. Dark Chocolate Dreams is pretty good, too. My boyfriend let me take my driving test in his VW. He liked seeing the big ol’ Trooper get into such a small car. I didn’t even have to drive, only parallel park. I guess if he figured I could do that with a stick shift, I could drive. I’m thinking about looking into Feedly. I already use Chrome. Do you know if there’s an app for Feedly? I’d like to get a tablet eventually, especially for blog reading.

    1. Yep Patti there is an app for Feedly. I have it on my iPhone and iPad. Little challenging in its teeny-ness on the phone but great on the iPad. One wisdom tooth, that’s interesting! Parallel parking in a Bug, breezy easy! Good Morning Patti!
