Tricia’s Barn Charm!

Photobucket
This was the first barn on a Sunday drive to Hermann, Missouri in search of barns and a glass of wine at Hermannhof Winery and CH gave the shout out. The teeny thing was sitting way back in the field all alone and I probably would have missed it. It sits on Highway 94 between Jefferson City and Mokane Missouri in the fertile Missouri River Bottom. The glass of wine in Hermann was delightful and the bratwurst was delicious. Oh, and there was some pretty dang good German Potato Salad too!

Linking to Tricia’s Barn Charm this country Tuesday!

    1. Good Evening Linda! Nice to be missed. I thought you were in Florida 🙂 Hermannhof Winery is a beautiful place to go any old time but it is fun in Fall. Thank you for the visit 🙂 I am an inconsistent blogger 🙂

  2. BEAUTIFUL shot!!! Sounds like a great way to spend the day…a drive through the countryside and wine. That one should be made into a canvas photo and hung on the wall! As a matter of fact, it would match the colors in my living room perfectly. Maybe you should open one of those online photo stores at Cafe Press and sell it. Just sayin.

  3. Hi Pix! Love your beautiful barn scene. I’m glad CH gave a shout out or we would have missed this one!
Sounds like a fun trip to Herman. My MIL was from there, it’s an interesting place and beautiful there in the fall. The brats sound good, and making me hungry, I haven’t had anything to eat yet. My MIL made the best German Potato Salad and I’ve never been able to duplicate it, she didn’t have a recipe. Dang it.

    1. Ooooo I just hate that when there is a good recipe and we don’t get it. My Grandma made the best German potato pancakes and I didn’t get that one. We have tried but they are not the same. Yep CH knows a barn with charm by now!

  5. I had never heard anyone besides my husband’s cousin speak of Hermann – and now I read of it here! Charming barn and lovely photo. Our cousin, Alice Calhoun and her husband Clark Gantzer live there in Hermann. Clark is a professor at the University, and Alice is an artist. She makes and sells metal art – garden ornaments, etc. Beautiful things. If you ever hear of an exposition of her work nearby, do drop by and tell her hello for us!

    1. Thanks Isobel! CH estimates the barns in that area to be around 60 to 70 years old. They are barns in the rich soil of the Missouri River bottom. Soybeans and corn grow there. I am interested in the history too. CH’s Mom had acreage there until last month and she sold. She had someone farming it and I think he would be a great source of information. CH’s Dad bought the land down there 50 years ago, he has passed on but he loved that land and was proud to be part of the tradition of agriculture in the river bottom. I didn’t want The Mama to sell but……..

  7. Gorgeous!! Love this one!! Pretty sure I’ve seen that barn before. We used to go to Mokane every year for fiddling contests. I miss those days, and the chances to see more of our lovely MissouREE countryside. And, really? Does it get any better than a glass of wine at Hermann? I think not! Have a great week, Pix!!
