Befuddled Flicker. Befuddled Blogging.

This Flicker flew his feathery self into our porch window and found his befuddled self flat on his back under the window he hit. CH thought he was done. One leg moved and he checked CH out with one dazed eye. If you look close at his little grey noggin you can see that he left a few feathers on the window. CH scooped him up and brought him inside on the porch to warm up. He recovered. CH reported that he was one strong BIG bird!

I am having trouble getting back in the swing of blogging since my old computer took the last gasp. The new computer is very nice and pretty dang zippy! So I have been zipping around the intersweb. I’m hoping this post will get me kick started.

It’s our Anniversary! I see a trip to the BIG CITY and a delicious dinner scheduled for today. An Anniversary Cheeseburger πŸ™‚

  1. Happy Anniversary to you two love birds:) Sounds like you got a new laptop for the occasion, nice. That bird is a pretty one even with the missing feathers. Speaking of feathers, Monday morning I stepped outback with Gus so he would do his business (if you don’t go with him he sometimes won’t stay, brat) Anyway,… a bird was flying away as I opened the door and there were feathers EVERYWHERE. I think there was some kind of bird sacrifice right in my back yard. It was the biggest mess!! Should have gotten a picture but I was too freaked out that Gus would eat something that he shouldn’t. I’m not sure if I got in on the tail end of a bird fight or if a cat had breakfast. Yuck.

Y’all have fun in the big city today.

  2. First – Happy Anniversary. I hope this post does get you back into blogging more. It’s always nice to see a new post from you. Glad the bird recovered. Now go say this post title 5 times fast – I bet you don’t say “flicker” every time LOL

    1. Thank you Isobel! He is a Northern Flicker, a woodpecker. He is a handsome bird with yellow underwings. I didn’t design the award free thingie. I was lucky to get it on my sidebar I am so not tech savvy. I borrowed it πŸ™‚ with permission. The bluebird is our state bird!

  3. Happy Anniversary to you both.
Happy CH revived Mr. Flicker, they are so beautiful.
We have never found anything to stop the birds from hitting our picture window. They see the reflection of trees in the glass. I guess we could put up some kind of a net and they could just bounce off.
Cheeseburger and a glass of wine sounds like a celebration to me.

  7. Happy Anniversary!! So glad the little bird was okay; that’s scary when they crash into a window.
Sorry about your computer: we have one that’s on the disabled list too. I think a new one is in our very new future (I hope so: it’s tough sharing one with hubby!).
Hope you have a wonderful cheeseburger anniversary!

Love the little birdie. Bless it’s heart. I suspect it was quite shocked to find itself in the loving care of a human. I’m glad it’s okay and back out in the wild free and happy. πŸ™‚

    1. Good Morning EC! You fell into pending comments for some crazy WordPress reason. Thank you for the Anniversary wishes. We had a very nice day! The weather was gorgeous and we stayed close to home and had dinner in the not so big city. We can say with a high degree of certainty that the Flicker is back out and doing well πŸ™‚

  12. Happy anniversary! Isn’t helping birds a great feeling? We have a pigeon flock that visits, and as much as I dislike them eating everything in sight, I carted one to rehabilitation after it flew into my window. Nurturing instinct, I guess.

    1. Hello Connie! Sometimes when the birds that hit our windows take off, I’m not sure they are going to be ok. I just cross my fingers and say a prayer. We have had a few tipsy ones too. The Flicker is a very colorful bird and I think of him as a feathery comedian. They really are funny searching around on the ground for food.

  14. Flickers are so darn pretty. I collected a mourning dove fresh from a house encounter and luckily after a half hour of getting warmed up in my hand, he flew off. My sister found a knocked out bird by the side of the road and put it in her pocket and returned home….completely forgetting about the bird while she was working at her computer and then suddenly, someone got restless in the pocket of the hoody she was wearing and so out the door that little recovered bird got to fly. Birds are so beautiful so close up….even Stella to some degree. >:-)

    1. Stella is bee-utiful!!!! Mourning Doves are so funny. We call them Andy Birds here. Another story. Glad you were able to help your birdie. It was something being able to look at that Flicker close up. Goodness he was an awesome bird. Maybe it was a girlie. I’ll have to look at the old bird book. Good to “see” you Maria! Enjoy your Sunday! We are going to The Mama’s. You must have a post πŸ™‚

But, I wanted to let you know your request for a post has been noted. πŸ™‚ Oh, and Stella was not very beautiful tonight. She flew to the floor and started sharing Violet’s meal with her. The only reason that makes me cringe, the sight of a little bird and cat eating food together, is because she will then fly up to my shoulder and try to deliver a big stinky canned fish flavored kiss. Eeeeyuck.

Andy Birds, eh? That sounds like a cute story. Every Andy I’ve ever known has been a good one. Okay, time to snore.
