Can A Chipmunk Be Family?

I have a husband that looks much like a chipmunk storing food for the winter. Could his picture count as “Family” for the weekly challenge? No pictures. CH began his imitation of a chipmunk on Friday after complaining of a canker sore in his mouth Wednesday. Lots of pain and swelling and both of us wondering what the dang heck was going on. Our family Dr. not answering the phone and no one standing in, not even a recorded “Happy Thanksgiving we are out of the office” thank you so much. Off to Urgent Care Friday night where everyone was very kind because while CH did resemble a chipmunk(there was a little giggling by the staff, I may have smiled too)he was in a great deal of pain. I think I might have seen a tear or two roll down his cheek, and he is a brave strong guy. Turns out he has a raging bacterial infection, antibiotics were prescribed and picked up in the BIG CITY. He is feeling pretty rough so as per instructions from the Dr. at Urgent Care a visit to our regular Dr. is the order for today. I have been a little preoccupied with worrying about him and his care and feeding. He can only eat cold things. Pudding being his choice, chocolate preferably. So I have been stirring lots of chocolate pudding and generally hovering over him hoping that something will make him feel better. I will be back to regular programming here at the blog and visiting other blogs when CH is feeling better and doesn’t require as much care and feeding. And all kidding aside, I hope today he begins to feel better, his resemblance to a chipmunk is less and he doesn’t wind up at the hospital with an IV as the Urgent Care Dr. mentioned could be a possibility.

  1. Oh tooth pain is excruciating. I do hope the infection clears up quickly. How miserable for him. Is he allowed whisky with his antibiotics? The only ones I have ever been prescribed where alcohol was not allowed was for a dental problem.

  2. No hospital! The antibiotics kicked in! He still looks like a chipmunk with a droopy puffy eye but he has moved on from cold pudding to warm split pea soup. Still needs some TLC but things are looking up-HUGE improvement! Thank you all!!!!!!

    1. Thank you E.C.! Your healing thoughts and prayers helped, he is much improved this morning, chewed toast! Still resembles a chipmunk slightly but that’s ok. Thanks for the hugs too, they helped-I was kinda skeered. Didn’t know what we were dealing with.

      1. Thought I’d come by and see how CH is doing. Thank God for our medical advancements and medicines. I’m so thankful that he’s improving. My healing thoughts and prayers are still with him. I’m still sending out healing hugs to you both (((hugs)))
Bless your heart, I bet you were and probably still are most unsettled about CH. I believe if I it was my husband I’d still be skeered too. You deserve extra hugs of comfort. (((hugs)))

        1. Good Evening E.C.! He is doing so much better πŸ™‚ His face looks almost normal again, just a tiny bit of soreness. Had some Mac and Cheese for dinner. I feel much better now too, not nearly as worried. The scary things they tell you that can happen. Thank you so much for coming by to check, very kind of you πŸ™‚ Tomorrow will be even better I am sure. Maybe he will feel good enough to get out for a bit. 6 more days of antibiotics! Thank you, thank you.

  4. So sorry that CH got so sick! The big, tough guys usually don’t want to go to the Dr. for little things. And then, those little things turn into big things. I’m glad CH is feeling better though. Please take care of yourself too!

  5. Poor CH. Sounds pretty miserable. I’ve got one of those chipmunk hubbies too. His is from an abscessed tooth. Not much fun being sick at holiday time. I hope your hubby gets better soon.

    1. Good Morning Cheryl! I hope, I know πŸ™‚ you had a superb Thanksgiving getaway holiday. I’m glad you are back! CH is still sleeping but I am sure he will be pretty near fully recovered this morning. He was doing great yesterday. I need to get a new cell phone and he won’t be able to stand staying home while I go to the phone store! Ha! Cheryl this cold is going to put a crimp in my picture taking for Barn Charm and my picture archives are getting slim! Thank you for stopping by and thinking about CH!
