Random 5 Friday
- CH, the Husband for 39 years, baked his first loaf of Challah bread. I know what you are thinking as you look at that monster loaf of bread. It’s OK, his feelings will survive your giggles, snickers and laughter. It looks like Challah bread on steroids. That is just his manly man version of a challah braid. It didn’t affect the taste. It was delicious! Crunchy sweet crust on the outside and that lovely pale yellow sweet bread inside. All gone now having been hoovered down with lots of buttah. CH is the bread maker in our house.
- My heart loves the book That Quail Robert by Margaret Stanger.
- I haven’t filled up the gas tank for over two years in either of our vehicles. Sadder than sad. My head is hanging down in shame. I have a retired husband. He is home all the time. He is home ALL THE TIME..
- I could live on bread and butter, homemade noodles and mashed potatoes.
- I am a worrier. An Olympic worthy worrier.
Bruschetta and Them Boots.

I set up a nice little wine time with bruschetta and gave the whole happy afternoon event the color orange so I could do a color coordinated post about them boots waaaay back when Big Brown came bouncing down the road with them. Bruschetta fixings came from St. Louis, MO and my favorite food store Dierbergs. CH is so wanting to get busy with that bruschetta but I won’t let him touch nothin’ till I get a shot of them boots! See that smile.

The longer it takes me to get them boots and the bruschetta and the wine glasses just right CH starts to see this may take longer than he thought but dang he should know by now.

He begins to see the whole thing may be going to hell in a handbasket. Patience is short.

Patience is GONE. Went to the kitchen and made his own bruschetta. But look at them boots and that lovely wine and colorful plate!
Now that’s a picture!
It Is A Hallelujah Friday!
My wonderful husband, that would be CH and that would be the same CH and husband that leaves the milk jug in the fridge with a half a thimbleful of milk in it, well he has done a most wonderful thing. I have loved Mr. Smokey Robinson’s music all my life. He performed with Daryl Hall, yes of Hall and Oats in a relaxed kind of jam session at Daryl’s house and I have that saved to my computer(and iPhone and iPad)but CH has been recording all of the episodes of Live From Daryl’s House to catch the repeat without me knowing. It recorded last night and I went jumping up and down happy cause now I can see Mr. Smokey Robinson with Daryl and Tom “T-Bone” Wolk(T-Bone sadly died in 2010)on the big screen with the speakers thumpin’ some Smokey old time tunes! The entire episode is on You Tube but it takes about an hour to watch. If you like Smokey and Daryl Hall and have some extra time it is worth the watch.
It is pure magic!
Live From Daryl’s House~Smokey Robinson
And we have tickets to see Smokey live!!!
*You Tube came after me and told me I couldn’t have Smokey and Daryl’s video here so I thought I better respect their request. They put a big old red X here and removed it. Sorry. The link still takes you to the wonderful Smokey episode.
Wordless Wednesday… I Can’t Doooo Wordless!

Big old rumbly storm front rolled in yesterday….

Priority #1~Feed those feathery and squirrely little bodies. Let every other thing go flying like Dorothy and Toto in the Wizard of Oz!
Wordless Wednesday

Did someBODY think the half gallon of milk was going to do some magic by the light of the fridge and get its empty self full again?
And YES, it’s empty. Teeny bit of milk layin’ there in the bottom.
SomeBODY must of thought we would need a half a thimblefull.
*I know it’s not Wordless. I’ll work on that next Wednesday.
**My 100th post! Took two years!!
Mondays Inspired. By Friends….
So I find myself inspired today by my blog friends. That is some most excellent inspiration I think we would all agree. Inspired by Dianna at These Days of Mine. Linda at The Road Awaits. Sam and Pam at One Spoiled Cat and Margie at Latebloomerbuds.
I LOVE Mondays. Sundays I love more. Sam(and Pam)inspired me to shout that out. I really love this Monday cause while I also love CH he is gone all day to the BIG CITY with The Mama and sometimes I need a day to myself to let my wild and crazy out to play. So, I am going to buy a pair of Sorel winter boots and thanks to Miss Linda of the Road Awaits I am going to buy a wireless remote for my camera! Dianna got that purchase rolling with her post today about traveling tripods and kissing Motor Man and then Linda added more incentive in Dianna’s comments with the wireless remote that her hubby purchased. Margie inspired the snap of the jetty in Venice, Florida.
CH when you get your wandering to St. Louis and eating good St. Louis food person home you can blame all these gal pals in the links for my happy Monday inspirations. Boots. There are no words to express my love of boots. Wireless remote. And dang a blog post before a month or two sauntered by in a PROcrastinating teasing kind of way. I did manage to pass on the inspiration of a couple of friends to add a horse to the Tiny Ten. Today’s 19 degree high and memories of breaking up iced water buckets and hauling fresh water with my nose hairs frozen together was an inspiration killer.
September. Say do You Remember….

ba de ya, say do you remember
ba de ya, dancing in September
ba de ya, golden dreams were shiny days

ba de ya, say do you remember
holding hands with your heart to see you
remember, we knew true love was here to stay
ba de ya, dancing in September
I am linking up with Sunday Stills Signs of September/Fall and Nancy’s Your Sunday Best this last day of September. I hear Earth Wind and Fire’s September tune dancing in my mind. Twinkling my memories. I might have taken a few liberties with the lyrics. Maybe..

Sunday Stills~Shadows of Ourselves

Painting the front porch welcome grate. Truthfully, taking a picture of the front porch welcome grate that CH painted while I fiddled around and took a picture of my shadow. Kinda how things go here. CH does the work outside and I take pictures.

Thank You E.C.! This Post is for You!!
E.C. over at Enjoying Creating has been baking some delicious looking rolls. And can you believe it? She has been tempting me with pictures. So I sort of dropped a hint, like a lead balloon, that I would like the recipe. And being the sweet person that she is with a wonderful sense of funny, she did a whole post about her rolls with the link to the recipe!
E.C. we had a few little issues but they came out fine. They aren’t as pretty as yours but CH and I decided that they were all unique little individuals with their own odd shapes and blemishes. But they were beyond scrumptious and we hoovered them down before the day was over. I know! Redunkulous!! But with the buttah we couldn’t leave them alone.
Thank you E.C. The rolls had a wonderful texture and just the most wonderful teeny bit of sweetness and saltiness. And they were easy even for me who knows nothing about baking bread. Well, there was that little problem about them not rising. But we and the rolls rose above it! I know!! I crack myself up this morning
Befuddled Flicker. Befuddled Blogging.

This Flicker flew his feathery self into our porch window and found his befuddled self flat on his back under the window he hit. CH thought he was done. One leg moved and he checked CH out with one dazed eye. If you look close at his little grey noggin you can see that he left a few feathers on the window. CH scooped him up and brought him inside on the porch to warm up. He recovered. CH reported that he was one strong BIG bird!
I am having trouble getting back in the swing of blogging since my old computer took the last gasp. The new computer is very nice and pretty dang zippy! So I have been zipping around the intersweb. I’m hoping this post will get me kick started.
It’s our Anniversary! I see a trip to the BIG CITY and a delicious dinner scheduled for today. An Anniversary Cheeseburger
Can A Chipmunk Be Family?
I have a husband that looks much like a chipmunk storing food for the winter. Could his picture count as “Family” for the weekly challenge? No pictures. CH began his imitation of a chipmunk on Friday after complaining of a canker sore in his mouth Wednesday. Lots of pain and swelling and both of us wondering what the dang heck was going on. Our family Dr. not answering the phone and no one standing in, not even a recorded “Happy Thanksgiving we are out of the office” thank you so much. Off to Urgent Care Friday night where everyone was very kind because while CH did resemble a chipmunk(there was a little giggling by the staff, I may have smiled too)he was in a great deal of pain. I think I might have seen a tear or two roll down his cheek, and he is a brave strong guy. Turns out he has a raging bacterial infection, antibiotics were prescribed and picked up in the BIG CITY. He is feeling pretty rough so as per instructions from the Dr. at Urgent Care a visit to our regular Dr. is the order for today. I have been a little preoccupied with worrying about him and his care and feeding. He can only eat cold things. Pudding being his choice, chocolate preferably. So I have been stirring lots of chocolate pudding and generally hovering over him hoping that something will make him feel better. I will be back to regular programming here at the blog and visiting other blogs when CH is feeling better and doesn’t require as much care and feeding. And all kidding aside, I hope today he begins to feel better, his resemblance to a chipmunk is less and he doesn’t wind up at the hospital with an IV as the Urgent Care Dr. mentioned could be a possibility.
Six Word Fridays:THANKS

The Mama. Her Son. My Husband.
Dianna’s post this morning at These Days of Mine introduced me to Six Word Fridays. So, I am giving it a try. I think it will be fun and an opportunity for me to learn more about the people whose blogs I love to read. And for some of us, that would be me, a prompt to stop procrastinating and post!
Weekly Photo Challenge:Breakfast

Fried Mush, baby!! CH is the mush maker and cooker. Mush recipe here. But “we” use white cornmeal with lots of salt and pepper and fry it in canola oil and like it sliced a teeny more than a quarter inch thin so it’s nice and crispy. All the better to hold the “buttah” and the Amish made sorghum molasses. And no, there is not one healthy thing about mush. It’s country gourmet!
A New Start

This little sunflower face was taken by Country Husband. I found it when I loaded pictures to the computer last night and fell in love with the sunny detail of it. It is SOOC, nothing done to it. Nada. This little guy and about 300 more of others like him were standing in our west pasture all straight, tall and proud. Way back in early Spring we decided to burn off some of our west pasture. Things got a little out of hand when the wind came up and we had to do the 911 call. It wasn’t all that out of hand but we were very happy to see the faces of the men that volunteer for our local fire department. I was just a bit worried about the neighbor’s horses. I knew the horses would be OK but I didn’t want the field to go up in flames. I had no idea CH threw out a bunch of sunflower seeds in that black, stinky charred field. And so a new start to the old blackened pasture! And a new start here at the blog too.
Computer was picked up Wednesday. Came home with a brand new hard drive and a zippier new feel. Two weeks it was gone. Who knew? So I am going to get back to posting and reading all those wonderful blogs out there and do some commenting now that I have my old new familiar laptop back. Now I just have to find a shot for the Weekly Photo Challenge. HOT!
